Sainsbury’s sponsored me to do a video post of their Keema Curry recipe. What an opportunity! But I was nervous. What if I did not like the recipe? What if I took one bite and hated it? Oh the risks we foodies take.
Thankfully, I LOVED it! Here I am eating it out on my deck. In fact, I ate the whole bowl and then had more for dinner. Reg loved it too! Spiced meat over rice? Delicious. There were some challenges with the recipe but it all came together in the end. Come see just how easy this recipe is to make.
Working with the recipe
There were some hiccups with the recipe. In the instructions it mentioned adding onion and garlic with the ginger but onion and garlic were not in the list of ingredients.
So I added my own foodie-touch by decided to finely chop 1 cooking onion and 1 clove of garlic.
One of my favourite aspects about this recipe is that I had so many of the ingredients on-hand already so this is a very pantry/fridge-friendly dinner.
The biggest challenge for me was getting the right consistency with the sauce. It appeared to be very watery after the 15-minute cooking time so I had to continue reducing it for an additional 15 minutes. That makes this just over a 30-minute meal which is still super impressive.
Foodie Conclusion
Was it worth the risk? Absolutely! This is the kind of recipe I search for. It is so flavourful, comforting, economical and easy-to-make. It is so rare for me to find a dish that I will make again on a regular basis and this one will be printed out and put into my very thin folder of regular recipes to cook for dinner.
This alone should give it a 5/5 rating but there were some issues with missing ingredients and time issues so I give it 4.95 out of 5 wooden spoons. Thank you Sainsbury’s not just for the opportunity to participate in your video series but for providing me with such a winner of a recipe!
