Here is another retro kitchen image I wanted to share from the big box of nostalgic goodies Lorraine gave me. This is one that immediately reminded me of my mom and growing up in her kitchen. Back then mushrooms were all the rage and bright colours ruled. It is the only time you would see olives paired with tomatoes, cherries and mushrooms.
At the time, I was not impressed. I thought it was all so garish, unsophisticated and silly. Yes, I was a child at the time but my opinions have always been strong. I am happy now when I see these retro 70s style foodie images. They make me feel at home again. I now see its charm, warmth and homey appeal.
The earthy character of the 70s was something that always made me cringe. I always wondered why I had to grow up in an era of orange and brown. Complete with itchy synthetic clothing and children’s obsession with boxed KD. Now I smile when I see funky designs and earthy images. It is an era that is gone now. A time of innocence and simplicity that no longer exists.
I hope to save a little bit of this era by sharing this adorable invite with you. May all kitchen eras be honoured and protected.
