Summer Finds

July 25, 2013 by Suzie the Foodie 5 Comments

Summer Finds

When I left for Toronto, I took very little clothing with me. I knew winter would be ending fairly soon so I took some basics and bought clothes as the temperatures changed at Value Village.

But of course, I did not buy just clothes. Oh no. I have always been a huge fan of what I call REAL milkshakes and when I saw this retro Hamilton Beach milkshake maker for only $5.99?! I had to buy it and because I had a full VV stamp card from previous shopping, I got it for 30% off.

Does it work? Hell yeah! I bought very basic ingredients (including a malt mix) and that machine makes the best REAL milkshakes. In fact we got into the habit of having Milkshake Mondays and if we missed the Monday, had one later in the week.

I ended up with a lot of milkshake all over my face from moving the stainless steel cup up and down the spinner but who cares? It made the fluffiest and totally diner-esque milkshakes I could want. Soon I will be introducing Reg to the Milkshake Monday ritual!

Summer Finds?

Life has been way too serious and challenging lately so I want to hear about your summer finds! Buy anything that you totally love lately? I would love to hear about your latest treasures too.

There is nothing better than finding a good deal on a kitchen item that brings joy to our kitchen and tummies.

This makes me want to go back to VV and pick up the one I saw there yesterday.
I just missed a pair of brand new blundstone boots for $15, I thought about begging the lady for them… but reason got the better of me 😉
I did a great glass jar for making kombucha and a bedskirt for my sons bed, in the exact green colour I wanted, so all in all a great day!

Haven’t bought anything of note lately, whether kitchen-y or otherwise. I did buy a cute cat teabag holder when I was in Quebec City a couple of months ago though.

Oh my gosh, I love the milkshake mixer, and what a great retro turquoise green color! I’d be afraid to get one, I’d make a milkshake every night : )

Lizm, sounds like you are a very disciplined shopper and ended up with great deals, nice!

    Thanks Melissa!

Debra, your latest post with the Madmen video was stuck in my head for hours! I love that you got a cat teabag holder in Quebec, nice, for you and YRH.

Redwoman, that retro green colour totally got me. It’s true, the temptation to make milkshakes all the time is real and strong, although right now I don’t have most of the ingredients so I am safe. And the fact that I end up with splatter all over me and the kitchen, LOL.
