I survived Hal-Con Sci-Fi/Fantasy Convention Contest 2012

October 29, 2012 by Suzie the Foodie 4 Comments

For those of you who love to dress up and enjoy the fun world of sci-fi/fantasy conventions, you may want to check out Hexed, a blog/podcast I do with my sister Shannon. I don’t know how I did it but I spent three days at Hal-Con over the weekend covering just about everything you can imagine. We met John Rhys-Davies, talked to the brothers from Haven, won items at the auction… You name it, we did it.

If you aren’t that interested (it is an acquired geeky taste) you still have to check out the costume contest video I put together. I can finally reveal that Reg went as Khan from the Wrath of Khan and his costume was exquisite.

Reg got photobombed while being interviewed for a comic collectibles blog… He worked on that costume for six months every single day. I am going to put together a mini documentary about it, it is so incredible.

After day 2 at the convention we had dinner at Burrito Jax (review to come soon) in their new location in Lower Sackville which kept us alive!

Not to worry, I will still be at my foodie blog and have two more Halloween foodie posts to go. This is truly the most fun time of year ever. I just have to keep going… keep breathing…

Deryck, it changed my life. I had no idea how much of a geek I really was and just fell in love with the people and the convention in general. It is so much fun, the best time of my life.

Jos02, we heard a lot of spontaneous Khaaaaaannnnnn!!!! screams the entire weekend, it rocked. Reg was in heaven!

KHAAAANNNN! (Hey, I had to do it too). The only other quotation I remember from that film is “From hell’s heart I stab at thee.” Or is that from Moby Dick? Hmmm, maybe both.

Anyway, WELL DONE, REG!!! Fab costume and a classic character!
