my favorite foodie moment this summer was touring a coffee roaster. I love the smell of fresh roasted coffee.

I like McDonalds coffee too… in fact, I don’t go to that T.H. place since McDonalds introduced their new coffee.

    mmmmmm coffee..

Hmm, I would have to say that going to the cottage with all our friends and attempting to barbecue on an ancient habachi grill while mildly intoxicated! For some reason the steaks always taste the BEST on that thing!

Definitely a cottage moment; a Canada Day Celebration. BBQ, pasta, Canadian wine, combined with family. Heaven.

My favorite foodie moment was being able to attend a tasting to a new restaurant in Edmonton called Plow and Harvest. I actually felt like a food blogger being able to get sneak peaks and letting them know what we liked and didn’t like 🙂 email: [email protected]. Thanks!

My foodie moment was at my nieces wedding this summer at my brother-in-laws cottage. The food was cooked on site in a mobile kitchen and it was the best meal I have ever had at a wedding.

Definitely my favourite foodie moment was every time I could open my sliding door, walk outside in my bare feet and pick the ingredients for my meal from the garden. I am going to miss that so much in the cold weather!

My favourite foodie moment this summer? Cooked a steak on the barbeque that turned out just perfect; the steak you dream of that rarely comes to pass in real life, with buttery mashed sweet potatoes on the side. Ate it in the shade of our oak trees, surrounded by the scent of phlox and freshly cut grass. A perfect summer moment .. sigh.

My favorite foodie moment this summer: We found this out of the way pizza place in Langley, Washington while we were on vacation. A wine place recommended it and said it was better than any place, even in Seattle. They were right! Mine had a LOT of garlic and pesto, my husband had homemade sausage and other meats on his. Best pizza EVER!

Favourite food moment – so many, and all centered around my husband’s newest passion The Big Green Egg (we had Thai Shrimp on the BBQ that looks like a giant avocado last week and it was the best Thai shrimp I’ve ever had…not to mention the fabulous noodles I threw together using President’s Choice Memories of Thailand Sauce…better than any restaurant we’ve ever been to). js_corcoran(at)Hotmail(dot)com

My favorite foodie moment this summer was camping. We made our first sm’ores, that were gooey goodness and Jawful Pies. For Jawfuls it is a cast iron sandwich toaster. Put margarine on the outside of two slices of bread (and because you’re camping you can have white bread guilt free) fill with pie filling of your choice, we had strawberry rhubarb, seal and toast. Next time I want to try with a marshmallow and a few chocolate chips, inside too. It was a great foodie memory.

My favorite foodie moment happened yesterday on the way back to Halifax from a weekend in PEI. We stopped in Aulac, NB for gas and I saw this cute little restaurant called Schnitzelhaus which I just had to try. So glad we did! Best meal we’ve had in a long time (my boyfriend agreed). Can’t wait to go again! So yummy!!

PS: I forgot to mention the memory maker of this moment. (Preggo brain is very ADD) I mention that the sandwich toaster should be cast iron. We now know this because, we had one aluminum one and one cast iron. Our habit is to leave them in the fire for a little while to burn off any sugar residue that leaked from the Jawful Pies. Well we left them in for a little too long and when we went back to them, the aluminum one had melted to a pool of aluminum. The Cast iron one was as good as new.

Having perogies and farmer’s sausage dinner at ABC Restaurant on my birthday. Not the mashed potato perogies, but Mennonite-style dry cottage cheese ones, with onions and buttermilk gravy–ABC is the only place here that serves them. I don’t bother making them any more, so this was a real treat.

My favourite foodie moment is when I take kids to the Clayburn Village General Store. They even have candy from my mother’s childhood. All in big glass jars and you pick out what you want with tongs and a bag. If you are wishing you could have a childhood flashback, go there. They even carry English candy. Yumm!

For my son’s 13th birthday this year we had a meet and greet with Chef Lynn Crawford at her restaurant in Toronto – Ruby Watcho, she was also hands on in the kitchen preparing foods. A wonderful experience and I recommend the food there to anyone. Best foodie experience of the summer hands down. The only problem was when we came home, for the next week, every dinner I cooked received this review from my son … “well, it was good, just not Chef Lynn Crawford good…. ” lol.
