PC Loads of Blueberry Fruit Bars

PC Loads of Blueberry Fruit Bars

Right before the long weekend started the Foodie Fairy showed up at my door with a box of PC Loads of Blueberry Fruit Bars! It was finally a warm day so the timing could not have been more perfect.

PC Loads of Blueberry Fruit Bars

I had a bit of a freezer malfunction so they melted a little and then froze again which is why it looks a little weird. So how did it taste? It tasted like frozen blueberries on a stick!

Ingredients

“Blueberries, sugar, water, pomegranate juice, glucose solids, citric acid, guar gum, dextrose, mono- and diglycerides, carob bean gum, polysorbate 80, sorbic acid.”

Foodie Conclusion

Well I was right. Frozen blueberries on a stick but with more sugar than water and lots of other “stuff”.

Frozen treats are tough. In order for them to be sweet enough to be enjoyed, there has to be a lot of sweetener but why is there all that other stuff? It is a shame because this tasted like a very basic and lovely healthy treat. It makes me wonder if everything else was really necessary.

I did enjoy these and appreciate that the Foodie Fairy arrived at my door so I could try this sweet treat but I think I will stick with the PC Blue Menu Caramel Greek Yogurt Smoothie Bars. They are just 100 calories and taste divine. I would rather indulge in something a tad naughty that ends up being surprisingly healthy than have a treat I thought was healthy ending up being 120 calories and contains something called polysorbate 80, a synthetic compound.

If you love blueberries, you will enjoy PC Loads of Blueberry Fruit Bars. Combing them with pomegranate juice and having them contain 50% blueberries… These are tasty and fun for the summer and contain zero fat. Me? I will get blueberries in my smoothies and pretend I am being a naughty foodie with their Caramel Greek Yogurt Smoothie Bars instead.

That’s really too bad about the extras. I’ve had these too and totally thought they were just frozen blueberries on a stick! They’re very tasty and refreshing on a hot day.

Exactly Jamie! Which is why I had to say something. I really thought the same thing which is why when I looked at the ingredients I was so surprised.

I love the Greek Yogurt Smoothie bars too! I always find it a shame when I find a bunch of synthetic ingredients in supposedly healthy food

They are so good, aren’t they Heather? It is a shame and I’m kind of surprised. I just thought it anyone could make them awesome and mostly “real” it was PC.

After the pomegranate juice, I can’t see what else was needed. I love the mango bars of the same series but so much sugar I could barely eat them and all that sugar gave me heartburn!!

Amelia, I like the mango ones too but they are sweet, it’s so true. And kind of dense! A little too thick when it comes to consistency. This one is more like a popsicle which I like.

I like the homemade ones better, or smothies. And these days, the price tags on frozen treats of all kinds are just too far out of my budget.

It’s true and the more “real” they are the more expensive which sucks!
