Recipe to Riches’ Savoury Snacks Winner: Mexi Mac ‘n’ Cheese Bites

Cyra is a lovely woman. This contest caricature of her is horribly unflattering. What the hell was the artist thinking?

I wanted to sneak this product review of Cyra Belbin‘s President’s Choice Mexi Mac ‘n’ Cheese Bites in before Recipe to Riches‘ voting came to a close but ran out of time! Winner will be announced on the show this week.

The Product

In one box you receive 12 bites for $6.99, very reasonably priced. They are baked in the oven until the crispy wheat and corn breading gets crunchy.

It is hard to believe looking at them just as they come out of the oven that inside lurks tender mac and cheese noodles oozing with cheddar and a bite of jalapeño.

The Flavour

But that is exactly what is inside! The noodles are extremely tender so if you like al dente, this might be a bit off-putting but for us, it worked. The eating experience is crunch… goo… SPICY BITE!

This product delivers exactly what it promises and at a decent price. I personally would not “snack” on a bite that contains 5 grams of fat, almost half of which is saturated. It is more of a treat or an appetizer to me but it is very tasty.

I was thrilled I could share these with Reg. Most of the contenders this year have contained ingredients he could not eat. Also, I write “share” meaning I gave him a couple and kept the rest for myself.

Please note, these are spicy. Not a kick-in-the-head spicy but still, a bit of a boot to the tastebuds. I loved the heat, it totally gave them that Mexi vibe Cyra wanted.

I give this product four and a half out of five wooden spoon.
