Sun-Maid Cinnamon Swirl Raisin Bread kept me and my tastebuds alive & happy

Sun-Maid Cinnamon Swirl Raisin Bread

Sun-Maid was kind enough to send me a loaf of their Raisin Bread with Cinnamon Swirl to put through my test kitchen. The timing could not have been more perfect. It showed up just as I was getting sick and my fridge was getting dangerously empty. I think there are some foodie gods up there taking care of me!

Sun-Maid Cinnamon Swirl Raisin Bread

Sun-Maid makes sure to include 75 kg of raisins in every 100 kg of flour when they make their bread so there is no skimping on the raisins per slice. This was evident in each slice but I was hoping for a more dramatic cinnamon swirl to boost the cinnamon flavour and add to the visual appeal In reality, I could barely see it!

The bread toasted beautifully. All I did to dress the toast was drizzle some honey and it was delicious. The perfect thickness. Nice and crispy on the outside without getting dry in the middle. OK, I was impressed.

Then I used it to make French toast and wow, did we ever love that! Once again, the thickness of the bread was perfect for making French toast and I did not have to add cinnamon to the batter as I usually do because it was already in the bread. We both thoroughly loved it! Reg in particular spoke about it a lot and he is super picky about French toast. I wanted to make bread pudding with it but it was all gone at this point, LOL.

One of the recipes suggested to me via the media kit was to make Raisin Bread Crostini with Tomato Basil Salsa. I guess they are trying to add a more savoury application for the bread but I just could not go there. I think my foodie tests were classic and what people would really use it for. For me, this was a lovely cinnamon bread that I really liked but feel the cinnamon swirl could have been more pronounced. I give this product four out of five wooden spoons.

PLEASE NOTE

I must apologize to my newsletter readers who marked down on their calendars that I would be doing my Tre Stelle giveaway today. You see I actually have the prize and for me to send it would require me having to go outside. Which I can’t do with my pneumonia. It is coming though and I also have some coupons for Sun-Maid beautiful Raisin Bread with Cinnamon Swirl that I will be giving away. It is just going to have to wait I am feeling better but I will send you another heads up in a newsletter.

Whenever we get a craving for cinnamon/raisin bread only Sun-Maid will do. We just love it toasted and buttered, such a treat. Costco has a great price on it as well.

Sounds like you’re on the road to recovery but still in need of TLC, sending healing thoughts your way. Have a restful and healing weekend 🙂
