The most wonderful day of the year

May 20, 2009 by Suzie the Foodie 13 Comments

Opening my kitchen window

It’s here. It is finally here! I wait anxiously for this day every single year and every year, it is a different day. Usually I am the one who cracks under pressure and pleads to finally open our windows but this year it was my husband who said, open them all!

It is finally sunny and 19C/66.2F here today and the weather is supposed to stay steadily beautiful for a week. We have been lucky to get above 10C/50F here this spring, winter has held steady and cruel but the warm weather seems to finally be finding us.

Finally cutting the grass
Nope, that isn’t our house but it is our wild lawn!

We closed our windows eight months ago and I just do not feel right without fresh air. I NEED fresh air. I am an air sign damn it! Oh to breathe fresh air in my home again, I feel like less of a prisoner here.

Of course now I am spending time in my garden doing a little weeding at a time under strict supervision of my husband who is tired of seeing me get hurt in the garden. Fine. So I am here on my break (which is totally OK, I really loathe gardening, I’m more of a wild garden kind of gal) shouting to the world that spring finally found us! I am hoping this means that things in our life are finally looking up. And I will try not obsess about next year’s looming winter. For now, I am free and breathing again.

    Me, too; me too!!
I love it when it’s warm enough to open the windows! Years ago I remember reading in a ‘housekeeping’ book that when you cleaned a room, it was ideal to open the windows & ‘air it out’ – so nice when we can do that! I opened mine a few days ago, too – yea!
    Aaaahhhh šŸ˜‰

I’m glad you’ve got fresh air again! I love having my windows open, too. I guess we’re lucky we got to open them earlier!

texas doesn’t get winter like other places but we still get crappy, cold (for us) weather and the first day that feels spring like is always so, so, so invigorating!

Here in southern cali, it has been hitting high 90s and 100. Quite a different climate. But I like it more when it’s quite a bit cooler.

I look to have my windows open and let a breeze come in.
Even sleep with the window open.

It was sure nice here today. Had a afternoon down pour and of course clothes on line.
Calling for a freeze so the tomato plants are covered.

    Coffee is on.

Helllloooo Suzie!!! How are you? I’m so happy that spring has arrived on your doorstep…and that you are flinging your windows wide. šŸ™‚ She keeps teasing us here. I got a sunburn on Sunday…and snowed on on Monday. Alberta!

    Bright Blessings…
