The Nestlé Cocoa Plan Anniversary

The Nestlé Cocoa Plan Anniversary

Nestlé sent me a package recently! Ever since I found out about their Cocoa Plan I have been a big fan of the company. I buy their chocolates to give out on Halloween exclusively!

I found out about their 10-year initiative to work towards improving the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and their committed to helping eliminate unacceptable forms of child labour back in 2012. I have since discovered that over the next few years they will be investing $120 million dollars into their Cocoa Plan!

The Nestlé Cocoa Plan Anniversary

“The aim of the Nestlé Cocoa Plan is to leverage Nestlé’s agricultural and scientific know-how to improve the quality and yield of the cocoa plants. At the same time, Nestlé will be training and educating local farmers and helping them increase their income by improving the quality and productivity of their harvests.”

CNN produced a documentary about the plan:

Nestlé is the first chocolate-maker to comprehensively map its cocoa supply chain – and can work on identifying problems areas, training and educating workers and taking action against child labor violations.

Less child labour, accountable farming and aiding the farmers in improving their harvest. It all sounds good to me! I want to congratulate Nestlé for continuing this program which launched back in March 2011 and wish them continued success in making this world a better foodie place.

That is good information to hear Suzie! It’s nice to be able to hear about companies that we can support with so many out there that should be banned.
