Where the heck has Suzie the Foodie been?! At Hal-Con 2011!

Crafters at 2011's Hal-Con Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Comic Convention
Zombie egg cups by mixed media collage artist Isabelle Pineau

Reg and I spent the weekend at 2011 Hal-Con Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Comic Convention to represent the podcast Hexed: Sisterhood of the Supernatural that I record with my sister Shannon about supernatural TV. Curious? You can listen to our latest podcast here where we discuss Secret Circle, Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Fringe and Lost Girl.

I was so pleasantly surprised to see all the cool foodie artwork at the convention! Check it out!

Me trying to strangle Bender

Also find out why I am trying to kill Bender from Futurama, LOL. So right now I am covering all sorts of elements of the convention but I will be back very soon with lots of cool posts about food! This weekend we ate trail mix in our car and lived on sandwiches and canned soup. Not the most exciting food times but the food-inspired shopping I did at Hal-Con almost made up for my very empty tummy this weekend.

Seriously, there is never a dull moment with you and Reg lol…always up to some adventures, sounds like you had an amazing weekend. Love the costumes. And those egg cups?! Oh my, nothing like starting the day with zombie faces staring at you while you dunk your toast. I like it!!!

Thanks for posting. I had been wondering whether it would be worth it to make the trip to Halifax for HalCon. My husband ended up having to go away on business anyway, but we’ll have to keep it in mind for next year.

AWESOME!! Conventions are always fun–the people watching, idea gathering. Always a blast–glad you guys tore it up! Can’t wait to see the rest. 🙂

Ava, it was wild! And I am seriously trying to recover now. I love those egg cups!

JavaChick, absolutely, go for it! And next year it’ll be three whole day. I can’t wait! It was one of the best things I have ever done, I’m just paying for it now.

Molly, the creative spirit there was amazing. I absolutely loved speaking with the vendors, artists are so awesome and interesting.

For you Xander fans, I got to hang out with him with hundreds of other fans for a whole hour! Total highlight of the con for me.
