Fast and Easy Halloween Creepy Spider Cookies

October 30, 2011 by Suzie the Foodie 1 Comment

Halloween Creepy Spider Cookies

I have a Facebook friend who wanted a quick and easy cookie to make for Halloween and I found it! I got the idea from a Halloween book published by PILCookbooks.com but appears to be no longer available.

Halloween Creepy Spider Cookies

Instead of using sandwich cookies I used dark chocolate wafer cookies and I slathered on a ton of marshmallow fluff.

I added another chocolate cookie on top and liked the thickness of the cookie. I added some red candies for eyes and pieces of black string licorice for the legs…

And ended up with the saddest spider cookies in the world that just fell apart. Oh the humanity…

I started again but this time with a very thick cream cheese frosting I had. Hopefully it would have more structure than the fluff.

Unlike the predecessor spider cookies, this one held up for this spooky photo of Drop Dead Fred’s head with mama spider up above.

And I could complete the more complicated photo from the top of this post without it falling apart. I do not know how long these little guys will stay together because I did have to do some taste testing. It is not just about aesthetics! Flavour always comes first with me.

I am embarrassed to admit, these were delicious. I mean, I really loved eating this treat which I thought would be cute to look at but man, it was also so yummy!

If you make these for your party I suggest doing so at the last minute just in case they do collapse over time. This should be easy to do because they were really quick to put together.

Oh and if you have any creative suggestions as to what I can do with a jar of marshmallow fluff, I would love to hear them!

ADORABLE!! The photos are very cheeky fun, looks like Fred was ready to snap his teeth into the little spider cookie lol.
