Although I am not American, I would like to say that I am so grateful for so many things:
First, all the fabulous recipes (see below) that I would like to share with you that would be great for holiday cooking and baking this year.
Second, I am very grateful we sold our house and somehow made it back to Vancouver alive.
Third, I love being so close to Value Village and can enjoy all the amazing cool vintage kitchen items they always have.
Fourth, thank you to Sherri at Live WonderStruck for the interview! Being asked questions about my foodie life made me realize just how much vintage, colour and character are important to me, especially in the kitchen.
OK, enough about me! If you are celebrating Turkey Day I hope it is a delicious one and here are some of my favourite recipes for holiday food!
The Perfect Oven-Roasted Potatoes – I discovered this recipe just a little while ago and I do not think I can roast potatoes any other way now!
This Super Moist Turkey Breast saved my foodie bacon last Christmas. I know, looks TERRIBLE but using a mayonnaise coating made for a fabulous turkey breast. I promise!
I make the dough for these Rich White Dinner Rolls with Thyme in the bread maker to save time and effort on a busy day in the kitchen but you could always make it yourself. These are so delicious!!! I have been making them for years. So soft and flavourful.
If biscuits are more your thing, Tyler’s Better Buttermilk Biscuits with Thyme & Cheddar are flaky and cheesy and fantastic. They also feed a crowd!
For the record, I HATED pumpkin pie until I found Anna Olson’s recipe. It changed my foodie world. You can find my tutorial on how to make her Pumpkin Pie here.
If you end up having leftover pumpkin pie filling make these Pumpkin Pie Muffins. Even Reg loved them!
Leftover butternut squash? No problem! Make my Roasted Butternut Squash Soup. I even converted my sister Jamie and she hates squash.
If you are still feeling adventurous in the kitchen after Thanksgiving and still have some butternut squash, try Chuck Hughes’ Butternut Squash Gnocchi. Absolutely delicious! And who doesn’t like homemade gnocchi?
It has been one HELL of a year. I think I am still living in a state of constant amazement, unable to process that I am really here on the west coast but then I feel so much better physically that I know it is not a dream.
May all your foodie dreams come true!
An Attitude of Gratitude is always a Good Thing!
