Iced Coffee & Milk Frother

Iced Coffee & Milk Frother

I don’t know if you noticed or not but I am kind of in denial that summer is almost over. I am probably going to stay that way until the snow starts falling.

While I was in Toronto I went out to a lot of different cafes and got to try summer drinks, something I do not usually get to do. Turns out I love cold coffee drinks but not the caffeine headaches.

The solution? Make it at home with my favourite decaf coffee: President’s Choice Dulce De Leche Decaffeinated Coffee. Which they no longer make damn it! When it was being discontinued I bought a whole bunch and kept them in my freezer. I figured they were iced coffee worthy so I pulled them out of the cold to use in my own sweet beverage.

I also used skim milk and Nesquik’s Iron Enriched Chocolate Syrup.

I got out my milk frother. Yes, I have a milk frother!

It is very similar to this milk frother which is around $6. I got mine at a thrift store for $2. I LOVE mine! Now of course you do not need a frother but I love mine so much I will always have one.

I fill the glass 1/3 full of my strong cold pre-made coffee and add a generous amount of chocolate syrup. The amount is up to you.

I use my milk frother to stir everything together. The more you immerse it the slower it goes BTW. It works best at the surface.

I fill the rest of the 2/3 with skim milk and froth and froth away!

I go up and down a bit with the milk frother and finish at the top to really get it foamy.

It seems silly that all these bubbles make all the difference but… they do! It just adds texture and ensures that coffee is really well mixed. Don’t forget the ice! I love adding lots of ice too.

Of course you can always add hot coffee over ice, I have done that too but then it is harder to use the milk frother. At the beginning of the week I make a big batch of the decaf Dulce de Leche and use it for a few days to make a quick, easy and super delicious iced coffee that cost very little and are made in no time.

A total treat for this winter-is-coming-totally-in-denial foodie.
