I was at a diner once where they made my hot chocolate in their milkshake maker and it made me wonder, how would an iced coffee turn out if I made mine in my Hamilton Beach milkshake maker at home?
So of course I had to find out!
The Recipe
I put in the stainless steel container 1/2 cup decaf coffee, 1/2 cup skim milk…
I added 1 tbsp of condensed milk and 1 tbsp of chocolate syrup to give it a mocha flavour.
The Technique
Holy crap, it went everywhere! Thankfully when I turned on the machine I did not have my camera ready because I could have potentially ruined the lens. I got it kind of under control and then picked up my camera for this shot.
I love adding condensed milk to my iced coffee but getting it incorporated is tough and this certainly worked but it was crazy! I tried making another one later with the same results… MESSY!
So be wary. You can of course try this for yourself but I think I will stick with the blender despite all the amazing air that got swooshed into my iced coffee this way.
I guess with a milkshake, the heaviness of the ice cream keeps everything under control as it’s blended. Without it . . . . WOOO-EEEE!
Exactly! It’s super heavy duty powerful so milk and coffee just went flying everywhere. Oh well, I tried and it was still delicious!
Looks like you had fun though. Cool beans.
