I spent yesterday product testing making rice on camera with my Instant Pot!
Years ago when I realized that the teflon interior of our old worn-out rice cooker was almost all gone, and that the cooking vessel itself was aluminum, I decided that was it! I was finally going to figure out how to make the perfect pot of rice on the stove damn it!
I never really considered using my Instant Pot as a rice cooker but a lot of people have been requested more Instant Pot videos and recipes so I thought, what the heck? I will see how good a job it does. If it fails I lose a cup of rice. If it is a hit, I have a new rice cooker for my kitchen!
When I first started making videos I promised myself I would never eat on camera. It looks so stupid! Ah what I do for the love of food and product testing.
No spoilers from me. Watch the video to find out if it was a hit or a miss!
Adobe is currently giving me a bother and won’t let me view the video.
Fun video! And 10 minutes to cook the rice — yowza! I liked your little shout out to Reg at the end LOL.
I wanna see, I wanna see … 🙁
Isn’t it amazing? I was super impressed! Thanks for watching to the end Debra. Reg is insisting he can make rice on the stovetop so I made him this video just in case he has trouble while I am away on a trip.
Oh Happy Whisk, I hope you get to see it soon!!!
Reg is going to cook for himself? Does he like to cook?
Oh no, Reg doesn’t cook anything, not usually. One of the reasons I had to learn, for our survival.
I have a fast/slow cooker that is similar to the insta pot and I LOOOOOVE it for making rice, especially brown rice! Brown basmati rice in 14 minutes, YES PLEASE! And it’s not super sticky, it’s perfect.
Laura, what on earth is a fast/slow cooker?! I’m glad it does rice so well and that’s impressive, brown basmati in 14 minutes?!
I think it is just Breville’s version of the instapot as it seems like it is more or less the same thing, slow cooker, pressure cooker, sauté and I’m sure more stuff. I mainly use it for pressure cooking though.
Sorry, I forgot to fill in the info, it’s Laura still.
That’s awesome, so glad you have such a cool foodie toy!!!
