Penguin Random House Canada sent me a copy of Michael Smith’s Make Ahead Meals: Over 100 Easy Time-Saving Recipes which was such a lovely surprise!
This cookbook has over 100 recipes to help you save time in the kitchen. Recipes include soups, stews, slow cooker, casseroles…
I am looking forward to checking out his muffin ideas in particular and especially his Orange Vanilla Pound Cake.
The concept is to do prep ahead of time so when you are ready to eat you can finish the dish in minutes. It also includes information about food storage.
Michael Smith, “Make Ahead Meals includes many recipes, ideas and tips for strategically getting ahead of your cooking. There are many ways not just to save time but to bring wholesomeness to your table.”
I have gone through the book and my goodness, it is gorgeous!
No tutorial-like photographs but there are full page photos of each recipe and that is saying something considering this cookbook is 8 1/2″ x 11″.
This is a GORGEOUS cookbook! Now I have to find out if the recipes live up the photographs and I sure hope so. Yummy!!!
Already got food spots on a couple of pages LOL . Not disappointed with this new book at all. Great recipes and really good , diverse ideas for make-aheads . So far tried the Granola, Chicken Taco Mix & had a great meal with the Roast Pork Tenderloin accompanied by the Pan Seared Brussels Sprouts (REALLY YUMMY) . As usual Michael’s comments are almost as interesting as his recipes. Illustrations are really good , as Suzie noted and index is well cross referenced .
Well that is a very good sign for the cookbook then Wayne! I chagrined when I got soy sauce all over my stir fry book at first but it is a rite of passage for a good cookbook.
Excellent recommendations too, thank you for that! Yes, it’s a gorgeous book. I’m looking forward to testing the recipes soon. It’s gotten quite chilly so I think I’ll start with making muffins and finally turning on my oven again.
