Long Easter Weekend in Vancouver 2017

Long Easter Weekend in Vancouver 2017

I was so excited to discover that Choir! Choir! Choir! were holding a singing session of Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here at the planetarium in Vancouver. I sang Michael Jackson’s The Way You Make Me Feel with them back in 2015 when I was home visiting family and loved every second of it.

The Music

This is my personal recording. I am a “high” but I was standing right beside the lows so it sounds quite fascinating.

Very different to sing in a bar and out on the streets in comparison to a planetarium in the dark! I must admit, we all struggled at first with the arrangement and could see the look of concern on Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman‘s faces. BTW, you may recognize Nobu from the show Food Jammers!

It was fun singing soprano, using my ridiculously high pitch voice for the powers of good (I hope). I always wanted to be a singer so it was such a joy to come out and sing with Daveed and Nobu and laugh my ass off. OMG, those guys are funny! In the end I think we did Vancouver proud but it was quite the learning curve.

The Food

When in Kitsilano, we always go to Siegel’s Bagels and get the same thing.

I get smoked meat with tons of mustard on an everything bagel. They have the BEST pickles too! Nothing better than wood-fired bagels. Damn.

The Sights

We also got down to Spanish Banks and holy crap, the tide was OUT! Like, WAY out! It looked like people were walking on water everywhere.

It still is quite chilly in Vancouver and that blue hue is real, no filter added!

To end the long weekend with a cerebral and artistic touch we went to see David Lynch: The Art Life at The Rio. We are getting close to our three year anniversary of our move to Vancouver, can you believe it? I think we have done a good job at remaking our life on the west coast and enjoying everything Vancouver has to offer.

FYI, Choir! Choir! Choir! is on tour so check out their dates. You do not want to miss them if they come to your city. Best laughter and music therapy the world has to offer.

It was the highlight of my year so far, doing CCC! I know, those bagels are so ridiculous. I want to learn how to make bagels but they’ll never be as good as these wood-fried ones.
