President’s Choice Blackcurrant Flavoured Maple Syrup fascinated me immediately. You rarely see blackcurrant-flavoured anything and I have no idea why. It is delicious!
Chicken liver pâté? I do not think so! But… let me slather it all over my pancakes.
I put it in this creamer for easy pouring and so I could see exactly how dark it is. Love it.
The amazing thing is my pancakes just drank it up.
Gone! It did turn my egg a little dark purple too but all that colour is so good for you and tasty at the same time.
Stunning. I LOVE this product. I saw it at my Superstore yesterday for under $4 which is a steal and it is delicious. You can definitely taste the black currant mingling with the maple syrup in a beautiful way. Perfect stocking stuffer for a foodie or save it for Christmas brunch.
I give this product five out of five wooden spoons.
It does indeed look yummy!
Hi! I just wanted to share why you don’t see a lot of blackcurrants in North America. From around 1910 to 2003, cultivation of blackcurrants was banned in the USA in response to concerns by the lumber industry of white pine blister rust (WPBR), which harms white pines if susceptible currants are grown closer than 1000 feet to the trees. The blight isn’t as much of a concern today as it was in the past, and resistant strains have been developed. Having spent a lot of time in the UK & Ireland, I’ve always loved blackcurrants, and I’m glad we’re starting to see it more!
Wow, I had no idea, thanks for letting me know Megan! My mom used to grow them in her garden, they’re so lovely aren’t they?
