Product Review: Salton Blender Take 1

March 31, 2010 by Suzie the Foodie 7 Comments

Warning: I think this blender is made of rocketship parts so when I turn on the blender, turn down the volume, holy cow!!!!

Friends on my Foodie Facebook Page really encouraged me to try out my new blender and urged me to make a video of it, which was quite challenging to do by myself. Here is a video of me trying out my new Salton blender for the first time (apparently it is no longer available). I made a strawberry mango smoothie with very basic, very FROZEN ingredients. How did it turn out? Well, watch the video and see!
I seriously just tried it so this is a very preliminary review and yes, I knew that as I was talking that I would not be in the shot. If I had panned out too much you would not get to see the blender as much and this video is all about the blender.
Please, don’t hate it OK?!

Salton Blender

Thank god they delivered it right to my door! So heavy!!!!!

Wow, no comments eh? OMG, you hated it, didn’t you? It’s OK, I mean, it is a crazy loud blender. I hope it didn’t hurt your ears. I just about jumped out of my skin when I turned it on. I remixed this smoothie at dinner time with the blender and seriously, my husband and I both think it’s one of the smoothes smoothies was have ever had. Although anything was better than the chunky ones I made with the old blender, not to mention shaking it and strangling it to get it to work.

Yeah! It arrived safe and sound. Actually, the video was great! Annika giggled like crazy because she thought you were playing peek-a-boo. It really looks like a cool, heavy duty blender. As for the noise, is there really such a thing as a quiet blender? It sounds pretty standard actually. I was very happy to see your excitement with it, and I hope it remains a true and loyal friend to you in your kitchen. Keep us updated once you get to try it out more, I’m very curious to see how it performs. So far so good!

That was so funny…thank you so much Suzie, saw your tweet and had to come and take a peek. Mary and I just had a strawberry smoothie tonight, and it’s something we never do. But we had a “moment” just grinning eye to eye. Ours was fresh strawberries my friend gave me, 10% cream and some brown sugar. Now I’m inspired to get out the frozen fruit 🙂

Congratulations on your new baby rocket! (& thanks for the warning)

WOW!! That is one amazing piece of machinery!!! It was loud, but you know, so is my little 40.00 Hamilton Beach. Sounds like it is going to take off and fly around the room! But if it makes a great smoothie in mere seconds it sounds like a good choice. Looks like you were really having fun!

I wondered if anyone would think I was playing peek-a-boo?! LOL! Too cute Ava. It’s true, there is no such thing as a quiet blender. It’s so much more powerful than the one I have been living with, I kind of jumped when it came on.

So glad you enjoyed the tutorial Cathy and wow, that strawberry smoothie you made sounds like a dream to me! Brown sugar in a smoothie? That’s a new one for me! Love it.

Tournesol, it’s true, even the small blenders are noisy. This one is so heavy duty, I love it so far but we’ll see how it does after a week of my crazy smoothie-making. It was fun to make! It was even more fun to have a machine work the way it is supposed to, that I didn’t have to strangle and shake to get it to work.
