Oh Tim Hortons… I want to support you. I can no longer have your flavourful iced capps (sigh) and you will not make me an iced coffee. The question left is, will you let me make my own?
Going Undercover
Summer is not over yet and I am still getting out and about. As a result I went undercover to see if they would let me make my own iced coffee.
Made My Way
You say I can have iced coffee my way Timmy’s but apparently you are having a run on ice and even though I am a paying customer…
I got a tiny amount of ice so when I went to make my own decaf double double with hazelnut it was lukewarm.
Blech! Not what I wanted at all.
At least I remembered to bring my own stainless steel straw and I have to say, their cups are recyclable! So that way they are ahead of Starbucks and McDonalds.
Pumpkin Spice Iced Capp
I am apparently an optimist because I went back today to see if their new pumpkin spice iced capp had caffeine. Some flavoured frappés don’t. This one does. Damn it. No drink for Suzie today. I just drank my own Wonder Woman water.
Tim Hortons, I think you could make a huge change in the world for people who love your decaf coffee, like me. It is super flavourful (unless it is tepid due to lack of ice) and I just know there are others out there like me who would buy it. I do not understand why you do not allow your servers to make it and clearly you also made it challenging for me to make it on my own.
The Competition
FYI McDonald’s acknowledged my existence via Twitter. They are not planning on adding decaf to their menu Timmy’s so why don’t you? Is it so hard to put your decaf on ice for people? Seriously, I love that everything bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese but you are giving me fewer and fewer reasons to stop by your location after my appointments.
I think I will head off to the little cafe across the street and see what they can do for me instead. It has to be more than what you have offered me this summer. You can’t say I didn’t try.
Hey Suzie,
I’m just wondering how you know Tim Hortons cups can be recycled? In the Toronto recycling program, paper coffee cups can’t be recycled due to the plastic lining. 🙁 I love that you are eco-conscious in your journey to finding decaf ice coffee.
Hey Vivi!
At the garbage they had a section for recyclable containers and they had a graphic of it. I hope they didn’t lie! Thank you, yes, it is very important to me to tread lightly on the planet if I can. I just wrote a post about that too. When you like to go out for coffee beverages, that is quite the challenge. Especially when you also want to take complimentary photos!
Thank you so much for your comment and for writing.
Should you want to give Timmy’s another try…order a DECAF coffee…in a plastic cup and wirh a lot of ice…I’ve had it twice that way…if they say no…just ask to speak to the manager…you are not asking a lot…just asking them to think…
They won’t give me a large plastic cup with ice! They said they were running out of ice.
