Click here for Part 1 of the PC Holiday’s Insider’s Report reviews: chips, chocolate and tortas! Part 2 consists of even more snack food. I saved the best for last!
I absolutely love the sesame crackers that come with the Snack Mix Asian-Style. It is interesting they added wasabi (and horseradish) peas to the mix to spice it up. The heat was instant but then dissipated quite quickly. Unless you eat a lot of the mix. Then, to quote Reg, “My lips are on fire!”
Definitely great for parties, something different with lots of nuts to boots. Personally, I thought it was OK. I would have preferred the sesame crackers on their own. I can see how this would appeal to others this holiday season, for sharing a unique snackable with others.
At $4.99 a package I give this product three and a half out of five wooden spoons.
Banana Cream Dulce de Leche Dessert Cookies
Boxed cookies… My favourite. (Note sarcasm!)
Yet again I am underwhelmed with a boxed cookie product. This time it is Banana Cream Dulce de Leche Dessert Cookies. I appreciate their attempt to make banana cream pie bites and on some level, they do succeed. I totally understand what they are going for but the store-bought cookie texture is still there, the outer cookie is dry and even though they use natural flavouring and banana powder, it just does not taste like real banana to me.
Even at only $2.99 a box I give these three out of five wooden spoons. I did not hate them but I did not like them either.
Now the Candy Cane Chocolate Squares did surprise me. Normally I do not like anything with candy canes and these were… impressive.
You get two layers of carefully packaged squares made with Belgian milk chocolate and white chocolate, sprinkled with tiny pieces of candy cane.
The candy cane flavour was more of a happy surprise than being overwhelming with the peppermint flavour. The chocolate is excellent quality but I must admit, the white chocolate is very strong and I know some people do not enjoy white chocolate. I personally do.
I have to admit, this is a special little box that has Christmas written all over it. For only $4.99 for a box of 16 specialty chocolate squares, this is a great little gift for the holidays. I give this product four and a half out of five wooden spoons.
Big Box Chocolate & Toffee Collection
I received another Big Box Chocolate & Toffee Collection this year (which Reg and I loved testing last year). This time I brought it over for the guys to devour for a D&D day and their perspective was fascinating. There were some the guys didn’t like, like the orange fondant. I found out the biscuit in caramel was just OK. They were much fussier than Reg and I were last year. That said, most of them rated OK or good. Plus, some of the guys disagreed with each other so there was not always a consensus.
I still say $9.99 for 900 g of chocolate and toffee is a fantastic deal and stick by my five out of five wooden spoons rating although if you have a fussy eater, they would probably rate if more like four out of five. I want to thank the guys for their efforts and taking this project so seriously. They really did an excellent job!
Triple Chocolate Cheesecake Lollipops
I did not intend to review the Triple Chocolate Cheesecake Lollipops.
Everyone spoke of the Salted Toffee ones, gushing about them. But! I could not find them anywhere! Only the chocolate was available and I did not know when I would be back to the store so…
… I got the chocolate! I thought to myself at the very least, Reg (being a chocoholic) would love them. You get 10 lollipops in one container for $6.99.
You can take these to the table quite quickly from frozen, unlike a whole cheesecake. They need to defrost in the refrigerator 25-30 minutes.
I did even better. I put mine out at room temperature for a while. I prefer treats like that and it paid off. Wow! Did we ever love these! Reg actually swooned and sighed as he ate his. I am not a huge fan of chocolate and even I adored them. Some people have complained that the mini chocolate crunch on the outside is just too much but I disagree. I needed that crunch to go with the mousse-y texture of the cheesecake outside.
My mom made a good point about them too. Portion control. I personally can never make it through a whole slice of cheesecake. I usually take one or two bites of Reg’s when we go out. This way I had one of the lollipops and he had the other two. We were both very happy.
I personally found these to be quite perfect and have no complaints. Easy-to-serve, delicious and something different for your winter parties. Less messy than a whole slice and you can eat them while standing up drinking a glass of wine.
I give this product five out of five wooden spoons.
Believe it or not, many more reviews to come!

Holy smokes that is TONS of yummy goodies! I would be all over those peppermint squares, I love stuff like that especially for the holidays. I didn’t realize that wasn’t a flavour you enjoyed though, I guess I got that gene!
The lollipops look awesome, I saw them in the store yesterday. Didn’t realize they were cheesecake, what an odd choice but sounds like they were fantastic 🙂

I like sesame cracker mix too, but once I was horribly, HORRIBLY sick on wasabi peas. Usually I have a stomach like cast iron but I cannot tolerate wasabi AT ALL. Live and learn!

I thought of you immediately Shannon when I saw those peppermint chocolate squares! For some reason peppermint gives me a sore throat so I did not get the candy cane gene. I think I would prefer the cheesecake to the cake pops. The idea of compressing cake freaks me out! Cheese cake is already very dense.
Debra, oh no! That sounds horrible! OK, you stay far, far away from this mix my friend!

Yum! It all looks great, the peppermint chocolate, I would eat them all with no help : ) Love, love! And the cheesecake pops? They look amazing. Wasabi Peas are one of my favorite snacks. It all looks so good! Unfortunately I don’t think I’ve ever seen this brand.
