Anthony Sedlak and Chuck Hughes make my foodie day at The Nova Scotia Seafood Festival

My article about CATCH: The Seafood Festival for Food Network Canada is now up! What a fantastic day I had.

At the seafood festival I had the opportunity to interview Anthony Sedlak from the show The Main. I was surprised that this was his first trip to the Maritimes! In the interview Anthony discusses what he will be making at the festival, talks about his favourite seafood of all time and shares what he is up to this summer. A little while ago I made his Black Olive and Goat Cheese Tart so I printed up an 8 x 10 of the tart and gave him the photograph and thanked him for the inspiration. After his demonstration he shared the photograph with the crowd and later gave me a complimentary copy of his cookbook The Main: Recipes and autographed it for me too. So sweet!

Chuck Hughes from the show Chuck’s Day Off was also one of the big foodie stars at the festival. The interview with Chuck is a little longer but do not miss my favourite part near the end. I made Chuck’s Mom’s Maple Pecan Pie recently and printed an 8 x 10 for him too and well you will just have to watch to see his reaction, it is near the end of the interview:

How fascinating it was to listen to Chuck talk about the realities of the food industry and running your own restaurant. He is extremely passionate about seafood and thinks the world of lobster, not only for its flavour but because it offers us so much to work with. Nothing gets wasted. I am so glad I had the guts to give both of them their presents. I almost chickened out but went for it because I just had to honour them for all the inspiration they give us in the kitchen. Check out my reviews of Anthony’s Corn Cheddar Cakes and Chuck’s No-Knead Whole Wheat Bread.

My other cool update is last week K.H. at Divine Caroline interviewed me! She is a fantastic interviewer and even stumped me a few times with her questions. Nicely done! It seems I have wandered into the world of interviews and hope I did OK as both interviewer and interviewee. It is an honour either way. How wonderful to connect with more people from the foodie world, especially two stars from The Food Network. How did I get so lucky?!

You know how excited I am for you to have had this opportunity. I would’ve been so star struck, you did an amazing job! They are both real sweethearts aren’t they? I just love how Chuck called his mom over to meet you, what high praise, and I was right, your pic of that pie is way nicer than the one posted on FN with the recipe. Congratulations, that’s an ultimate foodie moment of a life time.

Yes, I am necro-commenting again! 😀 I watched the Iron Chef episode with Chuck the other night. Awesome win! That Jerk Lobster looks very tasty too! And I am jealous that a friend of mine will be dining at Garde Manger Thursday night! Although we have said we will go there together at some point and we still will. I wonder how long we will have to wait now for a reservation since his Iron Chef win! 0_0

Man, I love my readers! Thank you all so much for the support. I still have to watch Chuck kick some Iron Chef butt boobookitty! One day I would love to go to his restaurant but it’s true, it’s going to be next to impossible now isn’t it? Enjoy the food for me!
