Blog Birthday Giveaway: President’s Choice Gift Bag and more product reviews!

President's Choice Giveaway

Contest is now closed. Winner will be announced Wednesday April 13th!

President’s Choice graciously donated a fantastic gift bag for one of my Canadian readers! You get a box of their Blue Menu and Organics products: quinoa, almond vanilla granola, avocado oil, Greek yogurt (a gift card for it actually) and their carrot pineapple muffin mix. So very generous of them, thank you President’s Choice!

Because this is a food giveaway, only Canadians can enter and remember, if you do not have a profile you absolutely must include an email address in your comment. If you don’t, you are not entered into the draw.

To enter, I want to hear about your favourite President’s Choice product ever! I know, tough to choose but if you could have only one of their products, what would it be?

President's Choice Whole Grain Banana Bread President's Choice Whole Grain Banana Bread

A while ago President’s Choice sent me a surprise gift bag of their new Blue Menu products and I wanted to share some updates. One of those items was their Whole Grain Banana Bread. Unfortunately we found this bread to be too dry and grainy. In comparison to other banana breads I have made, this just did not cut it with us but if you are new to baking and want something healthy and easy, this might be a good product for you.

Photobucket President's Choice Spaghetti in Turkey Meat Sauce

This was definitely the oddest product for me to taste test. It is PC Organics Spaghetti in Turkey Meat Sauce With Hidden Carrots And Broccoli. I was so confused by this little plastic bowl at first until I realized it was for toddlers. Being a non-Mom, I wondered if I should even review this product. I decided to try my best and give it a shot.

First, I would never heat up food in the microwave in a plastic container ever. That just does not seem healthy to me. I decided to heat it up in the microwave but in my own ceramic bowl. When I tasted it, it seemed to have no flavour. Being an adult with zero tastebuds in comparison to a child, I added some seasoning and it was an OK bowl of what appeared to be very-cooked noodles in a tomato sauce. The fact that they hid carrots and broccoli in there is impressive. I did not notice them and neither would kids, I believe.

Photobucket President's Choice Ketchup

I am a Heinz ketchup gal like many of us and was intrigued to compare it to PC Blue Menu Low in Sodium Ketchup. Heinz is thicker, denser with a slow-cooked taste to it but the PC ketchup was very bright and tangy, perhaps even a little sweeter. For those on low sodium diets I think you will be impressed with this ketchup choice. We had to really pay attention and do a taste test to notice the difference.

Photobucket President's Choice Yogurt
President’s Choice has been promoting the heck out of PC Greek Yogurt- Plain and now I know why. No fat, tons of protein and unbelievable texture… this product is a homerun. I have been waiting to find a Greek-style yogurt that I could use to make my own tzatziki sauce without having to strain the yogurt overnight to get that rich, thick texture. This was way thicker than my strained version and Reg was blown away by the chicken shawarmas I made using this tzatziki. In fact he ate up all the rest of the sauce with my homemade pita and I did not have to feel guilty about it because it has zero fat.
I have also used this product as a sour cream replacement in sauces and to thicken gravies with huge success. This is a product you do not have to feel guilty about buying or eating at all and it takes food over-the-top. I would give this six out of five wooden spoons if I could. I will be buying this on a regular basis from now on.

President's Choice Blue Menu Goat's Milk Cheese Photobucket

Just because I adore President’s Choice and am so grateful for their support I am going to add two additional reviews of their products. Next is PC Blue Menu Goat’s Milk Cheese which is almost half the fat of their regular goat cheese. I buy their goat cheese all the time so I was thrilled to see that they have come out with a lower fat version.

What amazes me is that the texture seems to be even creamier and the package seems to last longer. For only 10 cents more and almost half the fat, this is one of the best finds at my supermarket. I love it!

President's Choice Thins and Sloppy Joe

I bought some PC Blue Menu Thins – Whole Grain Round White Buns for homemade hamburgers. When it came to burgers, I found them quite flimsy and way too wide but for sloppy joes? They were perfect! I loved that I got whole grains that I could not taste and a perfect vessel for black bean and beef sloppy joes. Absolutely delicious and a little less sinful, these buns for this dinner were awesome!

So please, share your favourite President’s Choice product to enter. You must be in Canada and leave contact information if you do not have your own blog or an email associated with your profile. I am looking forward to your recommendations, you know I love PC products and would love to discover more winners!

Contest winner will be announced this Wednesday! Good luck everyone!

It might not seem like much but I do enjoy the Blue Menu steel cut oats. Maybe because I couldn’t find any other brand of steel cut oats, but it’s nice that it’s there! Also, the cheese! I recently discovered the varieity of PC cheeses (both in blocks and slices) here. Great when I need a few different cheeses when making a thing of mac & cheese! 🙂

Wow – What a great contest! I’d have to say the ‘Memories of…’ sauces are my favorite PC items. I live an hour’s drive from any Superstore, but the next time I’m down I’m getting some of the Greek Yogurt…..looks awesome!

    Fun! Great giveaway, Suzie!

My fave PC product are the Blue Menu meatless chicken strips. They’re the perfect convenience food for me — I can bake up a couple for a wrap or chop them up on a salad for that extra boost of protein. They taste great; my Husband even likes them and he’s a meat eater!

I have to pick just ONE?!? Man, that’s hard.

I guess I’d have to pick … PC’s Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette. It is divine on a salad of mixed greens, sunflower seeds and strawberries! A definite hit at our house!

(a close second would be PC’s Great Canadian Coffee — b/c I’m a self-proclaimed slave to the bean!)

I enjoy all things PC, but my kids are a bit less accepting. Their latest favourite is the PC Thins Hot Dog Buns. I must go out and get some of that Greek yogurt. Sounds perfect!

I didn’t know PC had a lower fat goat cheese available. I’m definitely going to pour over that label the next time I’m in the store. Thanks for the tip!

My favourite PC product is their World’s Best Meatless Breaded Chicken Strips. Sometimes a girl wants food reminiscent of her childhood. These taste like regular chicken strips – they’re great!

Hmm… One of my favourite PC products has to be PC Lactose Free Sour Cream, I am lactose intolerant so it is nice to be able to have something I enjoy, It is so yummy! It is creamy and tangy, it is also not too expensive. I love this product and I will be very sad if it is ever discontinued.

my favourite things change all the time so it’s usually whatever is my current favourite. Right now it’s the PC Greek Yogurt. I use it all the time and keep one in the fridge at all times.
I always buy the PC Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and when I had a drip coffee machine, I used the PC dark roast coffee.
Don’t even get me started on Joe Fresh though lol!!

My favourite PC product is the Blue Menu Baked Lentil Crisps. They’re healthy and delicious, and a great alternative to potato chips. Perfect for when you’re in the mood for a quick, salty snack. Yum. 🙂

I am fond of the blue menu hamburger buns, I like burgers but the buns were always such a turn off for me but the Blue Menu thins are much better. I’ve tried something similar from other brands but they are usually dried out and kind of hard, PC are still soft. The chevre is some of the best around, when we can’t get in to the market to pick up some from our favourite farmer (or we run out) the PC version is fantastic. It’s perfect in icing and it’s even better than your traditional cream cheese icing.

    Great giveaway Suzie!

Hands down, my fave PC product is one that is no longer made: Balsamic Pesto. I was very sad to see its demise.

I love your “mistake” about the baby food. Funny. I’m sure I would have done the same thing.

My favorite PC product is the Honey Dijon creamy salad dressing. I use it on past salad only. I have tried other brands, like Kraft, for example, and it doesn’t even come close.

Never met a PC product I didn’t like – my current favourite is the PC Mini Fudge Melts – I use them instead of Chocolate Chips in my Chocolate Chip cookies, and they get devoured in no time flat! They really are worth switching supermarkets for!

Neat give-away! SuperStore isn’t my primary grocery store, as I have a SaveOnFoods right around the corner.
But…I like PC’s “Chocolatey Chai” Tea. And the in-store-baked Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies–but I don’t know if they qualify as a PC product.
I’ve got to try the Greek yogurt soon!

I love PC products and there are so many good ones to choose from. I guess one of my favorites would be their microwave popcorn. I buy it as a quick snack at work; and their light version is quite good; no nasty chemical butter taste, light and almost all the corn pops.

I also love their goats cheese and the new yogurt!

That’s easy Suzie. As you know, I have to stay away from MSG but I’m a bartender and I LOVE making and drinking Ceasars! Presidents Choice is the only brand I have found that has tomato-clam cocktail withuot msg added. It is just as good, if not better than Mott’s and the price is usually cheaper. I use it in drinks obviously but also in some recipes as well, like my steak salad with spicy vinaigrette dressing.

I love my greek yogurt lately and have it sometimes twice a day. I would love to win this contest and give PC’s a try. Crossing my fingers!
