Restaurant Review: Brunch @ The Bus Terminal

Restaurant Review: Brunch @ The Bus Terminal

1606 Danforth Avenue at Coxwell Station

I LOVE diners! They are my favourite place to go. I think it is because I went to Lime Rickey’s so much when I was a teenager in Toronto. As a result, going to the Bus Terminal Diner is an absolute must when I visit. I have great memories hanging out there with lots of friends and family when I am in from out of town.

This last trip was no exception. I had to go for brunch and see friends!

This place has so much character, you really have to visit it to let it all in but I will do my best to give you a tour.

Tweety Bird hung out with me, literally, above my head after I arrived early to make sure I was the first one there.

This of course gave me time to check out the menu. The last time I was there I had perogies with my good friend Zorica. Tears, heartbreak, perogies and sour cream when my mom was sick. This time I was going to go for brunch.

Friends from various parts of my life arrived and I got to have four different parts of my life and world connect. It was fascinating and everyone was so lovely and wonderful. I am a very lucky person. I know this deeply. I have been homesick more than once since I came back west.

But on to the food! Polly pointed out to me that they had my favourite on the menu: Eggs Benny but with smoked salmon. They sure didn’t hold back on the Hollandaise — sweet! The food is always decent and this hit the spot as I caught up with everyone.

I love it when you can get people together and talk about everything from geeky conventions…

… to how there needs to be more female leads in Hollywood movies! Not that I have issues with Han Solo. I just love that photo. Looks like he has a yellow clown nose on!

Geeks represent! I wore my Princess Leia shirt and Polly wore Riker, LOL.

Michelle, Lisa, Polly and Dave, thank you so much for coming out to my favourite joint in Toronto and making my visit such a blast.

If you are in Toronto and want a casual place where you can get a burger, pancakes or perogies for a good price and just chat up a storm, the Bus Terminal Diner is a fantastic choice. Where some diners try so hard to feel authentic, this place is the real deal. The Bus Terminal rocks.

Wasn’t Lime Rickeys the best? I loved that place. Best BBQ pork sandwiches I ever had too although their real brewed iced tea confused me, LOL. Cherry Coke all the way!

Those booths are the best! Love the colour and just adds to the diner experience. Love that place. I don’t think there is anything like that here. Nostalgia isn’t big in Vancouver.
