Campbell’s Everyday Gourmet Golden Butternut Squash Soup Product Review

Campbell's Everyday Gourmet Golden Butternut Squash Soup Product Review

Recently I reviewed Campbells’ Everyday Gourmet Thai Tomato Coconut Soup and was absolutely impressed. I make soup from scratch all the time but hurricanes, snowstorms and health drama happen in life. Sometimes all at once.

The Surprise!

I let Campbell’s know that I reviewed their soup and really liked it and they sent me this box of goodies!

I could only find two of the soups at my store but now I have ALL of them to test! Considering I have been getting my house ready to sell and am recovering from a bad back injury, these soups have already been a great help in my kitchen.

Golden Butternut Squash

After getting my box of foodie goodies, I decided to take on their Gourmet Golden Butternut Squash. We had just finished a batch of my homemade Slow-Roasted Butternut Squash Soup so I was curious. I just had to compare!

See, I was right! The cartons do say no preservatives, colours or flavours! And the soups are suitable for vegetarians. Again? Impressive.

It was very thick and creamy and I was impressed they included carrot juice extract:

Ingredients: BUTTERNUT SQUASH, WATER, CARROTS, CREAM (MILK), SUGAR, DRIED ONIONS, DRIED POTATOES, CARROT JUICE CONCENTRATE, SEA SALT, BARLEY YEAST EXTRACT, MODIFIED CORN STARCH, BUTTERMILK POWDER, BUTTER, LEMON JUICE CONCENTRATE, DRIED PARSLEY, FLAVOUR (CONTAINS SOY LECITHIN).

That explains why it tasted so vegetable-y. It was also very herbaceous which I loved. My only complaint was the texture, it was not as creamy as I personally like. My homemade Butternut Squash Soup was better but hey, this came from a box! Even though there is cream in it, there are only two grams of fat. In my serving, only 120 calories. Healthy, delicious and only $2.99.

I give this product four out of five wooden spoons. If you do not have time to make your own homemade butternut squash soup, this is a great fast replacement.

I’ve never tried any of the box or can soup in squash line. But I do like squash.

Dora, squash is one of the most successful soups that you can buy at a store.

How’s it taste for saltiness? I often find that commercial soups are way too salty for my tastebuds.

I have not noticed the soups being too salty Debra. This one contains 740 mg which is a lot though but I did not find it salty at all.

Nifty! This one, at least, is not gluten-free, so anyone with gluten issues would have to avoid it. It looks really tasty, though!

It’s true Kenora, this one isn’t gluten-free but has good flavour. I prefer super-smooth soups and this one has more texture which I think some people will like but I prefer creamy.

At long last, I’ve bought the Golden Butternut Squash, and the Tomato Basil Bisque. Butternut Squash is heating up now; the texture looks amazing! Serving it with some home-baked brown bread. Yumm!
