I harvested a small crop of home-grown strawberries and enjoyed them all weekend, especially for a Tall Ship’s Cocktail created by Captain Morgan. More to come!
Reg and I decided to go downtown on Saturday to buy me some new hiking boots. It was a beautiful sunny day and quite warm so I made my annual trek to Tim Hortons.
I only get one Iced Capp a year as a treat and I get mine with skim milk and a shot of hazelnut. The staff at the Tim’s that is located where the Perks used to be were unbelievably friendly and helpful.
Yes, Reg and I were on holidays TOGETHER! It was nice to be home hanging out with my sweetheart.
We walked along the boardwalk for as long as my sensitive feet could last.
On the way back to the car we discovered Choco Cafe. It doesn’t appear to have its own web site (grrr) but according to Yelp, is open until midnight at Saturdays. Now that is my kind of cafe! Anyone been there before? I am going to have to check it out.
On Sunday after being plagued with bugs and crappy weather in the valley, we drove to Bedford to have lunch at the Chicken Burger.
I thought it would be a fun place to go eat, even though I am not a huge fan of the food.
I just wanted something that was a bit of a treat where we could enjoy the sunshine.
Which we did and I have to say, the onion rings totally rocked! I got the cheese dog with the works. Um… Where’s the ketchup? I had to go back and add some but still… pretty good. Reg had two chicken burgers and loved them. I do not get the appeal of chicken on a steam bun. Where’s the sauce? Or the gravy??? But people who loved chicken burgers, LOVE them. Nice for Reg to get a treat and we just love diners.
I also made a pizza from scratch and Reg confirmed, pizza stones really do make the best pizzas. More to come on that and so much more! I still have some Toronto foodie stories to share but then I am back and playing in the kitchen again soon.

Hi. I was looking around for info about Halifax and came across your lovely blog. Can you or anyone tell me where one might buy a chocolate malt in Halifax? I’ve looked around but can’t find a place. Thanks, and I’ll be back to read more of your blog!

Debra, they were, crazy-good!
OR, I don’t think the Chicken Burger does malt (which they should) and neither does True North Diner just down the road. It might not be available, sorry about that! I haven’t discovered it myself yet either.
