Product Review of Nestlé Coffee Crisp Hot Chocolate

The Company

My sister Shannon told me that Nestlé Carnation had come out with a variety pack of chocolate bar-inspired hot chocolates. I thought it was a brilliant idea!

The Collection

The one she got had Rolo instead of Turtles but also had After Eight and Coffee Crisp like mine. I thought $3.99 for 7 packages of hot chocolate was a little steep but Shannon said she had paid more. I picked it up because it was Friday and I usually get a treat for the weekend.

The Flavour Choice

I went for the Coffee Crisp right away. It has always been one of my favourite chocolate bars and I just could not wait to try it in liquid form.

The Prep

I wanted to make it like regular kind of boring hot chocolate with just boiling water. I wanted to test it bare bones style.

I could have made it richer like the little packet recommends with some hot milk but I wanted to see if it could impress me without any extras at all.

The Taste Test

I loved it immediately! Then, I realized, how much it reminded me of Maxwell’s House’s Swiss Mocha. Which makes total sense considering it is a mixture of coffee and chocolate… Like the chocolate bar! That is one of our favourite sweet liquid desserts and now it will always remind me of Coffee Crisp.

Reg liked it too when I made it for him to go with brunch over the weekend. It is a light chocolate and slightly coffee flavoured treat that was a fun little weekend bonus. Appreciated even more now that it has gotten significantly cooler here in Vancouver. A little foodie-inspired fun for the holidays.

I give this product four out of five wooden spoons.

So cool! I want to get a couple of these variety packs now — I’ll look for them at the grocery store this weekend! Thanks for the tip — hadn’t heard of them before!

They’re fun Debra! I’m just about to try the After Eight one. That’s one of the few mint treats I have liked since I was a kid. I hope you can find them!

I find them far too sweet for my liking. Haven’t figured out how to fix that. Possibly just put half in and add real cocoa??

Oh yes, I would just add half then Michelle for sure. If you add real cocoa it will make it more bitter for sure but yummy too.

Found out about this variety pack of hot chocolate on YT.I love hot chocolate so I had to go on a search to find them.I did not realize it is from Canada.I’m in America.I found them on Amazon for $14 for 14 and $12 for 7 so the $3.99 is a steal.I will have to keep looking. Thanks for the review.
