“Come to the darks side Suzie… We have cookies!”
We have been having an unusually mild weather streak this week and I have been LOVING it! Yesterday it was so dark and rainy but hey, I lived in BC, rain has never stopped me before. As long as it isn’t freezing I am good to go.

My birthday is coming up but I know from experience that it will be the coldest day of the year. It happens every single year so I celebrated it early by taking myself out to the thrift store yesterday. My mom used to take me for my special day when I was a little girl to celebrate and I wanted to continue that tradition. I just literally had to walk “that extra mile” to get there.
Oh thrift stores. You just never know what you are going to find which is a big part of the fun! That and finding treasures. I was on the hunt for pretty dishes for my foodie photos, as always.
I did very well! I went a little over budget but had so much fun. I got a new background via a placemat for my photos and Asian-inspired dishes which is awesome because I just signed up for Favorite Asian Dumplings from Scratch which was on sale via Craftsy. I love being an affiliate and it was my birthday gift to myself. I also got a ceramic quiche plate and some other pretty plates I could not say no to.
Eating!!!
One of the only great things about having your birthday in January is that treats I get at Christmas I get to use to celebrate my birthday. After all that walking in the rain, I sought refuge at McDonald’s and had their Christmas gift vouchers in my hand.
I saw that they had new soft baked cookies so I ordered a chocolate chip.
This cost me 68 cents! Now that is a birthday treat! I really needed the calories to make my way all the way home, it is quite the trek and I have lost a lot of strength since winter made me housebound.
The cookie was quite soft by the way. I was impressed. Did not taste homemade but for a factory-made cookie it was pretty good. Super sweet though. After having one bite I could no longer taste my McCafé Coffee Iced Frappé which is saying something because that drink is s-aaaaa-weeet!

When I told Reg I bought more plates he just shook his head. My cupboard is already teeming with plates and bowls but of course I had to get more. Even as a photographer, I get bored. I needed a creative and artistic infusion.
Love the cookery goodies. Love them. So fun.
Happy Almost Birthday.
Some beautiful finds there, Suzie. I look forward to seeing them in future photos!
Thank you both! 🙂 I love finding treasures for my kitchen and my photos. Yay! What a nice change of pace.
