I still can not believe I decorate this individual chocolate cake with Epicure Selections’ Chocolate Decorator and their White Belgian Chocolate! Me?! I am not the patient making-food-extra-pretty kind of gal. But! I think I might be catching the decorator fever. Epicure Selections’ made it so easy…
The Product
I found out about the decorator from Heather who writes Mmm… is for Mommy! Her daughter used it to decorate Oreo cookies and I was fascinated. Could I also melt chocolate and decorate with it so easily? I had to know so I wrote the company.
When the package arrived, I was immediately impressed by the high quality of absolutely everything. No wonder this company is popular for gift givers! Everything is so elegant and well made.
The Chocolate Decorator was exactly as described. It came with two nozzles and a cap for storing leftover chocolate inside the decorator. This way you can leave what is inside it at room temperature and then just melt it the next time you need to decorate with it. So smart.
The White Belgian Chocolate blew me away! I had no idea they were going to send me so much extravagant high quality chocolate. In fact, the woman at Epicure asked if I wanted dark or milk chocolate. I responded with a plea for white chocolate because as you know, I have a terrible habit of scorching it, especially in the microwave.
Testing the Product
Remember when I wrote about that chocolate fudge cake that was so big I had to put it in the freezer? Well it ended up being the perfect test subject for decorating testing.
I cut out a heart-shape with a cookie cutter and sliced the cake in half.
Because it was a bit wobbly and not flat, I put the top piece of the cake on the bottom with some icing on top. Then I topped it with the more stable bottom piece and slathered with icing.
As directed, I put 1/4 cup of the white chocolate in the decorator without a nozzle or cap on.
I put it in the microwave for one minute.
No scorching! Just a pool of melting white chocolate.
I stirred with a small spoon. Beautiful!
I thought it would be fun to also decorate the plate so I did some wild stripes across this plate and totally loved how it looked.
I got to work on the cake next. I was so nervous!!!
I started with three hearts on the top. I wanted to make a border with them but I made them too big. My bad! Instead I did a little whimsical looping around the edges and finished with a big white heart in the center. Yes, I love hearts, can you tell?
It was so easy to do! I love that there was zero, I mean ZERO, mess and all fun. Until…
I loved the stripe chocolate decorative look so much I wanted to shoot another foodie shot with that look but chocolate just would not come out. I guess there was a lone chip in there that refused to melt and it kept getting stuck in the nozzle, stopping the flow.
I used a wooden toothpick to push it back inside and then removed it. Next time I will microwave the chocolate a little longer and if there are any pieces still not melted, I will just take them out.
Foodie Results
I am not a real cake decorator by any stretch of the imagination but with the Epicure Selections’ Chocolate Decorator, I kind of felt like one! I have to say, I was so impressed by how easy and clean it was to use in general. And the White Belgian Chocolate? Divine! Absolutely divine! This is how white chocolate should taste. Delicious.
For only $12.99 Epicure Selections’ Chocolate Decorator is a steal. No messy pastry bags or having to buy cake tips… No making icing at all, just melt chocolate and play. It fit perfectly into my small hands which means kids can use it easily without creating decorating chaos in the kitchen.
Add on the Belgian Chocolate for $21.99 and you have a gift that any baker would cherish. I know that when I received this in the mail, it felt like a treasure right away. Despite a small technical issue, I give this product five out of five wooden spoons. It made melting white chocolate simple and easy in my kitchen and cake decorating fun. Two things I thought I would never experience, especially at the same time.
Thank you Epicure Selections! You made me feel like a foodie rock star.

We like Epicure peppercorns and spices, but this is the first time I’ve seen their chocolate decorating line — very cool!

I’m so glad to hear you had the same experience I did! Just another reason I started selling Epicure, their products are just a cut above 🙂

Debra, yes, I knew about their spices too but they sell so much more, it’s amazing! My friend Fran sent me a Tortillas press with spices and corn husks… It’s incredible.
Heather, thank you for the inspiration! I just loved your post, you illustrated it so well and you’re right, the quality of products are so good. I just wish I had people in “real life” I could sell too but kind of hard when you’re stuck at home. Still, I am happy to let people know about the products regardless, I am totally impressed.
