Recently I picked up a copy of Food Network Magazine, completely thrilled to hang out a little more with my Food Network pals and get more recipes. They asked their stars to name their top burger spot. That got my head reeling. Where is my top burger spot? Where is your top burger spot?
I love diners so my mind immediately went there but no, one place stands out for me in particular. On one of our many adventurous drives around Vancouver Island we went out with friends past Sooke and past many of the beaches until we found a restaurant on the water. I think it was called Breakers. There we all tried the bison burger which was crazy delicious as we talked and watched the gentle Pacific ocean outside. It was one of the best days. I even brought homemade brownies with me so we could have some for dessert on the way home.
Good food, good friends, good memories. That is what makes the top burger spot for me. So what is yours?

I’ve been reading through this edition of the magazine too!
I am a fan of the burger. I find myself craving a good burger now and then (I give in to the craving, as I’ve realized I usually need the red meat!)
We have a couple places locally that make great burgers – one is called the Island Grill. I get mine sans bun, with guacamole and salsa on it. YUM!
We also have a great place called Avo’s. They make a tempeh burger that is fantastic. (Not red meat, mind you, but super yummy!)
Mike and I have talked about what we’ll miss when we move to Oregon. High on that list are numerous local restaurants we have here! I’m sure we’ll find new ones though 🙂

The Old Triangle in Halifax makes a very tasty pub burger. So does Darrell’s – the BLTCM is great (I’ve never tried the one with Peanut Butter) and don’t laugh – Applebees Steakhouse burger – the one with the onion rings already on it is greasy but awesome!

I love burgers but I don’t think I know a place that is a burger place that isn’t fast food. I usually order them at regular restaurants and my favourite I think would have to be Insomnia (we went there the last day of After Dark last year). Great burger, plus the fries with aioli sauce helps 🙂 I always want to go there.
