We have just been dying to go to the new Storm Crow location since it opened. We love the Storm Crow Tavern on Commercial and now there is a Storm Crow Alehouse at 1619 Broadway.
We had heard about their Dungeon Burger which is completely random and based on your D20 rolls: “Imma let you finish, but you could be asking your server for a pad, a pencil, and a 20-sided die to be experiencing the most randomly generated burger of all time! OF ALL TIME!” Only $15 and comes with fries!
One day we will make it to their brunch…!!!
First thought when I walked inside? HUGE! Massive in comparison to their Commercial location which rocks. We are hoping it helps take some of the pressure off that location so that you have a chance of making it inside the doors without waiting in line outside.
Did they ever put a lot of money into the props too! Carbonite Han Solo (sniff, always makes me sad), a Millennium Falcon hanging from the ceiling, Boba Fett light fixture…
And Tank Girl!!! My hero!
We got there at 4 pm for a late lunch/early dinner. There was a Game of Thrones viewing at 6 and we knew it would get loud and crazy-busy.
Our friend Kris came with us to celebrate a very belated birthday meal for me. Four months late but better late than never! She ordered the chickpea fries and I had to try them too so Reg and I split a plate. They were amazing! I actually enjoyed them more than regular fries and appreciated the deep fried protein goodness.
Reg and Kris both got the vegan shepherd’s pie with some meat added to their dish. Kris got beef and Reg got bison. Sadly, neither of them really enjoyed the dish. I tried it and found it incredibly sweet so I recommended Reg add salt and that helped a lot. There was also a strong savouriness that did not work with the sweetness, I think it was sage. What a shame, I felt so bad!
See I ordered the BOBA FETTUCCINI upgraded to Bounty Hunter Bacon Carbonara for $12. It was delicious and delightful. I think Boba Fett would have been proud.
We enjoyed catching up with each other and appreciating the geeky atmosphere.
We even indulged in this $5 sundae. Notice the candied bats and ghosts? Yup, this place is seriously cool.
Even the bathrooms rock with their chalkboards you can add to.
As cool and fun as the Storm Crow Alehouse is, it is almost a little too cool for me. I love that it is huge, accommodating and fun but…
Their Commercial location just has more character. But don’t tell anyone. Let everyone else go to the Broadway location while we are hanging out on The Drive.
I am glad we went. It is a stunning place that will make many fancy-pants geeky people happy.
I give this foodie experience three and a half out of five wooden spoons.
