This past weekend I went to my father-in-law’s 90th birthday party! We went down to the family cottage and I brought my cinnamon buns. I wish I could call them mine but the original recipe can be found here. I did come up with my own method of making them more diabetic-friendly as well as creating the dough in the breadmaker and letting it rise overnight. I baked them that morning and when I showed up, they were still warm!
I thought this photograph captured the food quite nicely at a Maritime birthday party by the ocean. Giant pots of mussels and loads of fresh fruit ready for the taking.
For me, food is one of the nicest ways to show you care about somebody. These cinnamon buns are my father-in-law’s favourite and his wife came up to me at the end of the party and whispered to me, “He ate THREE of them!”
That is success for this foodie.
What is your favourite celebration food to make? How do you bring love to the party?
that all looks so good!
at new year i love to do a big gammon baked with honey and wholegrain mustard. i soak the gammon for two days then slow cook it, and keep it with the honey and mustard.
Drooling at the buns picture. I´m sure several of us will seriously consider licking the screen, lol! 😀
Suzie, what a colorful spread! We had mussels tonite. They’re one of the coziest seafoods the Maritimes have to offer.
I’ve been making cinnamon buns from scratch almost every Sunday morning since I don’t know when. It’s definitely a drawing factor once your kids move out 🙂 Food often communicates where words fall short.
I love sharing food with people! I really don’t have a specific thing I like to bring to a party, I just make what I can and give it to whoever is around.
I love hearing that someone liked my food. The greatest encouragement is being given back an empty plate!
Cinnammon Buns are love!!
