You can now read my restaurant review of Big Al’s Acadian Restaurant on Food Network Canada‘s blog! This will make up for the recent blueberry festival fiasco, I hope.
When you go to read the post, make sure to check out the life-size wooden carvings of the couple who are the famous and historical local giants. That is Anne in the mural painted on the side of the restaurant. Click here to enlarge. Her and her giant husband were the tallest married couple back then and who knows, maybe even today?
I studied with Susan Swan, a descendant of Anne’s, when I was getting my Creative Writing and English Degree at York University. This took me back to my writing roots and got me all nostalgic as I took in all the Maritime touches around the restaurant and there many of them. In a weird way it was like coming home to my writer’s self.

I checked out your review and photos — looks like a great place to visit! I love rustic restaurants like that. Those wooden statues are awesome. Real folk art.
