Check out my “Ask An Expert” article about cooking with pantry items on Food Network Canada’s site. It was such an honour to be asked to write this article and so much fun to set up photoshoots of all my pantry items. Although cleaning up the chaos afterwards with loose beans flying everywhere, not so much. Still, totally worth it!
It made my day going to the dentist while being hit with ice pellets with a broken tooth that much more bearable, LOL. I really hope you like it.

Your article’s great and so are the photos! Do you find it easier to take photos now in your new, shiny white kitchen? I hope it has improved the reflection of light.

Great article as well as some excellent recommendations. My pantry pretty much matches up to your list of must haves, and you’re right, having these items on hand saved my arse on more than a few occassions when the fridge was looking a little scant.

Thank you both so much! Actually these photos were shot in my living room but yes, the kitchen is definitely brighter now thanks to it being painted white. I won’t be able to safely so though until all the leaves are out. That’s when my kitchen is most plunged into darkness. Regardless, all that white makes me happy.
I’m so glad my pantry recommendations matched up with yours Ava, that makes me feel like I did a good job. Thank you!

Ok – that is too funny. I broke a tooth last Friday and had an appointment to see the dentist yesterday…and ended up walking from office to dentist in freezing rain/ice pellets. Freaky.

JavaChick, that is wild! I wrote you a note back but had to say, that is totally freaky. Hope your tooth is doing better now. I am so relieved to have mine fixed.
