Today on Foodie TV I share my first impressions of Chef Anne Burrell’s Own Your Kitchen, The Snacking Dead and Saving the Season cookbooks. I go through them with my first impressions and do recipe testing reveals for each book published by Random House of Canada.
Why should I watch this video you ask yourself?
Own Your Kitchen by Anne Burrell
For my terrible Anne Burrell impersonation of course! Not only that, I share my reaction to reading her new cookbook Own Your Kitchen: Recipes to Inspire & Empower.
Learn more about the style of the cookbook and what type of recipes Anne is sharing. I also reveal why I choose a salad for recipe testing and how much I spent on the hazelnuts alone!
I am totally going to “spatckock the bird” too, one day soon, thanks to Anne’s help to empower me in my kitchen. Learning how to cook Cornish game hens is also a food project I want her to walk me through. It looks so delicious but is a tad intimidating so I am glad I will have Anne’s guidance.
The Snacking Dead by D.B. Walker
In the video you discover exactly how I feel about The Snacking Dead: A Parody in a Cookbook by D.B. Walker and who I think this would be a good fit for. I also contemplate the dangers of making roasted red pepper hummus during the Zombie Apocalypse.
Saving the Season
I confess exactly why Saving the Season: A Cook’s Guide to Home Canning, Pickling, and Preserving by Kevin West is so far the most challenging book for me to read. That said, Kevin West helps me get over the fear the dangers of making preserves and inspires me to get out my jelly mold!
Find out if any of these cookbooks are a good fit for your kitchen or for a foodie you know this holiday season. So far I am loving all of them! Please note: there are outtakes at the end of the video too!
The Happy Whisk says
I am a HUGE ginger user, in all forms, including making my own ginger juice. So I say, go for what the formula recommends. Why not? Might be great. Might be too strong, but it might be fantastic.
That’s the fun of it. We never really know for sure until we give it a go.

Wow, ginger juice?! You are a real fan, that’s awesome! Yes, I will stick with the original recipe and see what happens. It’s true, that is half the fun!
The Happy Whisk says
Oh my gosh, homemade ginger juice is killer. I juice it in my juicer and add it to my hot drinks. Way good.
But it is strong.
Enjoy all your goodies. Fun to get new toys. Happy Playing 🙂
