Happy Halloween Foodies! I do not know about you but mine is going to be very different this year. No more hand in the mailbox or giving out candy to trick or treaters. My first Halloween back in Toronto is going to be spent with family enjoying homemade food and watching slightly scary movies together.
Tour of Halloween in Toronto
First I have to share the uniqueness of Halloween in Toronto. Not everyone participates but when they do!
This is the first time I have discovered a Hell Hound on my Halloween walks through the many neighbourhoods I have lived in.
Of course there are traditional decorations too that make me smile. Speaking of smiling.
Thank You David’s Tea
Have you ever seen something on social media you wanted so badly but never thought you would ever be able to get?
David’s Tea shared this ceramic coffee/tea travel mug on their Facebook page and I immediately fell in love.
I was early for meeting a friend at Bayview Village and saw that there was a David’s Tea putting together the Halloween merchandise. I asked the clerk if they had the ceramic travel mugs. She had not even unpacked them yet! She went and found one for me!
Only $15! I do not think I have ever had the experience of wanting something so much and actually being able to find it and for such a good deal. I swear, the monster on this mug is my animal spirit.
Celena’s Bakery
I needed to do some brainstorming so I took Beast Mug with me to Celena’s Bakery for a try out. The mug does not have any serious branding on it at all.
I picked up one of their amazing quiches for lunch.
I also got a decaf mocha with a shot of hazelnut which was divine.
They put it in my travelling monster mug no problem. I just had to say what size I wanted and I was good to go. I have this mug on my desk growling at me as I type this. It makes me very, very happy. Best Halloween gift I could have gotten myself. Now I can take it with me to restaurants and create less waste. It has a plastic insert for the top so if I want to drink and go, I can.
This has been one of the hardest years of my life. I take nothing for granted now and have little space for these sorts of treasures but sometimes you need to say yes to the foodie tools that call to you to help make life be even more delicious and even sometimes more environmentally-friendly.
Happy Halloween! I hope yours rocks.

I’m glad you’ve got your own NEW Halloween symbol now with the Beast Mug — it’s adorable! Happy Halloween, Suzie and may Samhain, the Witches’ New Year, bring you many blessings!
Suzie the Foodie says
Yes! Exactly Debra! A new symbol for a new Halloween. I hope you had a wonderful one this year too. I dreamed that someone told me my mom is OK and I don’t have to keep searching her for every night when I sleep. That was very healing for me. Brightest Blessings as we go into the dark time of year!
