Jamie’s Weiners & Beaners for Grown-Ups Made In Instant Pot

GET RECIPE!

Growing up, nobody like what our family called weiners and beaners more than my sister Jamie. Me? I was terrified of it when I was a kid. Seriously. It freaked me out. I realized I had gotten long past my legume terror when I started to crave her recipe that she makes in the crockpot. But I wanted to come up with an Instant Pot version of it so that is what I set out to do.

This is a great recipe if you are looking for something fairly inexpensive and easy to make that tastes slow cooked but is made in just 2 hours and not all day in the crockpot.

The Ingredients

You will need: 1 15.5 oz can red kidney beans, 1 15.5 oz can black beans, 1 15.5 oz can white beans…

I prefer to rinse all the beans really, REALLY well. Otherwise I get freaked out over them again, LOL. I know, weird foodie fear to have.

You will also need: 1 lb cooked kielbasa cut into 1/2 inch slices, 1/2 cup chopped onion, 1 chopped medium green bell pepper…

Dump everything in there and finish it off with 1 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 pressed garlic cloves, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 2 tsp prepared mustard and 1/2 tsp Tabasco sauce (optional, I omitted).

Add everything to the Instant Pot and stir until well mixed.

Put on “Beans” setting (medium pressure) for 120 minutes if you like your beans really, really well cooked like I do.

Some of the beans exploded from being in there too long but I would prefer that than to having crunchy beans but add less time if you want them firmer.

Click here if you prefer the slow cooked method which is very tasty and delicious. I love that I can get so very close to that flavour in the Instant Pot in my less time. Such a super flavourful dinner that does not break the bank and makes a ton of food.

Yes!!! Exactly right? I guess this is what makes it for grown ups. So delicious! A whole step up from weiners big time.
