ChefCommons was founded by myself and a friend of mine from college, Jenny. We both love food and come from a pedigree of chefs and restaurant owners. In fact, my parents own and operate a couple of small restaurants in New York. A little bit more about ourselves — my day job is actually as a resident physician and Jenny’s is a manager at a US-based food and snack company. ChefCommons is something we are currently spending alot of time building / developing, recently started this past month. We are currently in beta mode and hoping to bring more chefs and foodies here so we can develop the perfect educational, fun, and useful features.
We founded ChefCommons as a grassroots project to bring together anyone who loves to cook and eat–including professional chefs, aspiring chefs, foodies, and anyone who simply wants to exchange recipes, appreciate food, or learn cooking. Thus far, we have an international audience very enthusiastic about sharing food recipes, videos, and photos! Users can create and manager their own topic-specific groups, post messages in forums, list recipes, and showcase their creations (video and photo format). Our future plans include a job board for chefs, kitchen/cooking equipment reviews, contests, promotions (giveaways of equipment) from our partners (we are currently signing up a few major manufacturers who want to market their new wares to foodies), and expanding our events calendar (which will include cooking classes, food events, wine tastings, etc).
Introducing ChefCommons.com
Recently Gary, one of the founders of ChefCommons.com, contacted me and asked to interview me for his site. What an honour! I had joined their community a couple of months ago. At first I did not know if I could, I wondered if perhaps you had to be a chef but it turns out, foodies are allowed. Their mission? Connecting people who love cooking and eating. Well that’s me! Here’s my interview with ChefCommons.com.
In return I asked Gary if he could tell me a bit about the history of their site:
Gotta love the internet, foodies getting together and sharing their creations, ideas and food photographs.
