And A Word About Their Maple Pastries
It is apparently maple season at McDonald’s so I trekked over to my local McD’s to try their new products.
The Products
I LOVE maple so I was excited to find out about their maple caramel latte, maple mini pastry and maple apple Danish which are only available for a limited time in Canada.
It was my monthly pick-up-coffee-for-Reg outing after drawing class so I thought, what the heck? I will get myself a treat.
I started with the latte which I found out is only available with caffeine (ugh) and there is not a cold version available. Hot and caffeinated it is!
I began to order their Danish and was told that the maple baked goods were only located at full-size McDonald’s. Mine is very small. Sigh… So I got a hamburger. I had to eat!
The Taste Test
I carried it all home and sipped some of the maple caramel latte on the way.
Yes, wow, maple-y and caramel-y but tasted a tad artificial and OMG… SWEET!
I am a decaf double double kind of gal. The one time I like things to be sweet are with my coffee but this was insanely sweet! I know it is supposed to be sugary with the whole maple and caramel thing going on but damn… I drank less than half the small coffee. It is also incredibly creamy—the coffee was almost secondary.. This was beyond a dessert in a paper cup!
The Price
The McDonald’s Maple Caramel Latte was more expensive than my hamburger. It rang in at $2.39 before taxes and yikes, I will not be getting it again. If it came frozen or over ice, it would be much better. Iced beverages need that additional sugar but as a hot latte? I really did not like it. I wanted to but just couldn’t.
I give this product two out of five wooden spoons. I swear, only children would like it, it is so sweet. What a bummer!
The Foodie Conclusion
I am so mad the maple pastries were not available to me! Despite not liking the latte, I will try and venture out to another location so I can product test those too. Hopefully I will have happier results and foodie news.
And yes, there was enough caffeine in that super sweet cream-drenched drink to keep me up all night. Ugh! So not worth it.

I know this is un-Canadian of me, but maple is not a favourite flavour of mine.
P.S. I like your drawing, although it’s a bit too uncomfortably close to what I look like in the mornings sometimes.

Oh really! Not a fan of maple eh? <-------- See what I did there?! That's OK, it is not mandatory here, thank goodness.Me too! I think I lived back in those times and DaVinci caught me not at my best.
