Happy Halloween Foodies! Oh is it ever the best time of year and not just because MunchPak sent me a box of candy to review!
The Video
MunchPak is a subscription service that sends a box of candy from all over the world to you starting at $9.95! Check out my unboxing video with all the goodies inside.
The Box
First, Reg and I totally fell in love with the box! All sorts of people enjoying candy together. So cute!
When I opened the box this sweet little hello note from Anthony was in there to greet me.
The Candy
I began with Taokenoi Grilled Seaweed Spicy Flavor. So weird!!! It was sweet and spicy and did I mention so super spicy?! Never had any seaweed like it before.
The packaging says it was from Thailand but MunchPak’s site says it is from Japan. Either way, it was a tad odd and crazy-spicy! Fascinating…
Paqui Tortilla Chips Nacho Cheese Especial were very good high quality tortilla chips but I did not find them to be much better than other tortilla chips I have had. These come from the U.S.
Herrs Crunchy Cheestix Jalapeno Flavor sure got their jalapeño flavour down perfectly. I found them to be a little too spicy but Reg found them to be quite perfect. This product comes from the U.S.
Cosmos Creations Salted Caramel Premium Puffed Corn tasted just like Captain Crunch cereal to me. Very, very sweet and gluten-free! This product comes from the U.S.
I found the Anabelles Abba Zabba Chewy Taffy Peanut Butter Centre to taste weird. I am not sure filling taffy with peanut butter really works but Reg liked it. He said that it reminded him of those peanut candies you would get at Halloween that nobody liked but him. I rest my case! This product comes from the U.S.
It was exciting to get not just one but TWO different Pocky: Glico Pocky Cookies and Cream Flavor which had that cookies and cream yumminess down…
But the Glico Pocky Yasashii Amasa Pumpkin Apple Flavor did not. I personally just tasted what I thought was white chocolate but Reg could taste the pumpkin (not to be confused with pumpkin spice) and neither of us could taste the apple. It was kind of too neutral for us.
The cookies and cream version is made in the U.S. and the pumpkin apple one is made in Japan.
I wish I could say we liked the Swoffle Vanilla Filled Stroopwafel but it had little crunch and was just kind of bland. This Canadian stroopwafel did nothing to impress us, unfortunately.
Now the German Storck Nimm2 Boomki did not disappoint! “… delicious chewy candies flavored with Strawberry, Orange, Lemon and Raspberry flavors and filled with rich fruit gel filling.” Not only are they delicious fruit-flavoured chewy candies they also pop in your mouth when you bite them! I honestly can not stop eating these!
South Korea’s Mammos Apple Soda Flavor Candy was also fascinating. It kind of frothed a little (if I am not mistaken) when you enjoyed this hard candy. Very memorable and tasty!
There was also this cigar-looking wafer cookie but the package was not in English and it did not have a barcode so I have no idea what it is but it was quite tasty.
The App
It is very cool that MunchPak has an app so that you can scan the barcode of the candy into your phone for more intel:
Sadly it only worked 50% of the time but still, very cool idea!
Thank you so much MunchPak! That was so much fun and I am so glad that I got to test and enjoy the candy from around the world by Halloween. I noticed there was approximately 50% American content in the box so I wish there had been more international treats for me to try. That said, everything except the Pocky was completely new to me which made this a very entertaining product, well worth the money.
I give this foodie experience four out of five wooden spoons.

Stroopwafel’s are meant to be soft. (no crunch at all) I buy them from our farmer’s market… there is a dutch vendor that makes them locally and sells them by the dozen. I’ve been eating them for many, many years so they are a bit of a nostalgia food for me now. 🙂
Suzie the Foodie says
Oh that makes more sense then Michelle! I must say I did not really enjoy it though but if it is something you are used to I can totally understand the foodie nostalgia. Big time.
