My First Shop of Fresh Produce at Walmart Canada

My First Shop of Fresh Produce at Walmart Canada

I went back to Walmart and actually bought some produce from them! Reg did promise to take me back but it was my friend Emily who offered to drive me there and literally check the food out. I got a bag of stunningly fresh produce for $6.12.

What did I get?

I absolutely had to get a fresh bunch of spinach, that was top on my list. My store has not had anything but bagged spinach for a long time now and for me, there is nothing like having the real deal even though there is more cleaning involved.

How Much Did I Spend?

The spinach cost me just only $1.77!!! Bagged spinach is usually $2.99 and I got so much more this way, it was crazy. I washed it all up, trimmed it and now it is ready for salad, soups, sandwiches… Spinach in a bag just kind of freaks me out so yay for fresh spinach!

I am taking the class Favorite Asian Dumplings from Scratch with Andrea Nguyen and this week I am going to make chicken dumplings for a soup and needed bok choy. The bok choy at the store looked so good, so fresh and healthy and cost me $1.41. Amazing.

Oh radicchio! How I love radicchio. I make my own salad blends a couple times a week and always add some. My store went a few weeks without having any so it was great to pick up this stunning head of this leaf chicory. It is full of vitamins and minerals and I can not believe I got it for under $2!

Foodie Conclusion

It is much more challenging for me to get to Walmart than my regular grocery store but I have to say, when it comes to produce, I am incredibly impressed so far. Not just with the prices but with the quality, especially at this time of year.

Because I only had a few items I went through the express line and did not even have to wait in line. It only took me around 15 minutes to pick up the food on my list and get back out through the door. Maybe this will inspire Reg to take me next time since he is not a huge fan of shopping at the store?

I did write the company again to request more information, to speak with someone, but so far no one has responded. Which is a shame, I would love to learn more.

I am extremely impressed and thrilled with what I bought, especially for how much I spent. I did not refer to what was on sale, I just bought the items I needed and still got a fabulous deal for excellent quality. So far, so good!

Glad you found some goodies there. Is this a new location? They seem to have their best foot forward. Which is nothing like the many Wally’s we have here.

Yes THW, well, the Bedford location went through huge construction to add this new section to it. There are many undergoing the same changes so they can sell produce as well.

Thanks Debra! 🙂 Had the spinach salad tonight… so good!
