OMG’s Candy as seen on Dragon’s Den

OMG's Candy as seen on Dragon's Den

When I saw the former Clodhoppers’ creators on The Dragons’ Den, my heart went out to them. A Canadian classic candy enjoyed by so many people… and the creators left out in the cold.

I heard their new candy product was showing up in stores across Canada so I wrote them and asked if they would send me some samples for review. The packages came in 24 hours! What sweethearts.

Thanks to Arlene Dickenson, who put up $250,000 for 50% of the company, their new product called OMG’s that come in white, milk and dark chocolate and are now being sold at Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, Atlantic Superstores and Zehrs.

So what are OMG’s? Graham clusters with diced almonds and toffee bits covered in chocolate. They come in this small bite-sized clusters and I have to say, are absolutely delicious.

In this “nugget” shot you can see the graham crackers and nuts! I was sent the milk and dark chocolate versions of these treats.

I have to say I think I like the dark chocolate version the best. It really helps emphasize the toffee and makes it shine. Not to say the milk chocolate is not amazing, it is!

What a wonderful treat and fantastic story. My only concern is, is this a completely new treat from Clodhoppers? It sounds very similar to me but then, I agree with Arlene, these guys are the real deal and I would be happy to buy these from them no matter what.

Not the prettiest candy in the world but as someone who does not even like graham crackers, they have turned me into a believer. I am not a huge candy fan but I love a great Canadian success story as much as I love toffee, which is saying a lot. I do adore toffee.

OMG’s are delicious and fun to eat. I even used the crumbs on top of brownies I made the other day and it took them to the OMG level! I give this product four and a half out of five wooden spoons.

I saw them on Dragon’s Den too and was sad to learn that they’d been sidelined in Clodhoppers’ success. I thought the new OMGs sounded suspiciously like the former product too but hey, you do what you know! Glad to hear OMG is yummy.

Oh I know I would love these, what a treat! These are the kind of snacks I love to smuggle into movie theatres in my purse, they totally satisfy my chocolate cravings and sweet tooth. I will definitely keep an eye out for them.

It was sad, wasn’t it Debra? All that work and a grandmother’s recipe.. Oh well, this might be even better for them now and Arlene is a marketing genius.

Ava, that is genius! Yes, the perfect moving-going food because it’s crunchy and chocolatey. So smart!

Dr. Zibbs, they just hit the market in March, very new!

Never heard of them either until this week I saw the display in a Loblaws. Am addicted to toffee chocolate combinations in any form, but find that having the Dragon’s Den guru’s face all over the display makes me LESS likely to pick them up and at $4/bag for such a tiny bag to boot. Glad to read about their deliciousnesseseses 🙂 will keep that in mind when I see them again!!

Not a fan of Arlene’s Opiate? I do hope you enjoy the OMGs when you find them! They are quite addicting.

I found these at my local bulk food store. I am totally addicted. I have to portion myself or I’d eat the entire bin.

That is great they’re at the bulk stores now too! It’s true, portion control is important here. So glad you also like them!
