What a treat to get to try President’s Choice Orange Cream Pie!
I am absolutely crazy about everything orange. It is one of my favourite flavours ever and I was so curious when I saw this product at my Superstore:
It was $8.98 and looked like summer in a box. President’s Choice sent me a bunch of summer products to try and yes! Guess what was included:
My breath actually caught when I slid it out of the cardboard and saw this super pretty pie domed in a plastic shell.
I took off the shell to reveal this lovely dessert ringed with decorative whipped cream topping, which actually tastes like real whipped cream.
You have to let it thaw in your fridge for a couple of hours but then you are ready to dig in.
Super light, orangey but with a lovely tang! This helped prevent it from being too sweet.
President’s Choice has worked so hard to make sure there are only natural flavourings in their products and I had to wonder, where did that lovely orange colour come from? My first thought was… carrots! Sure enough, fruit and vegetable juices were used to create that pretty peach colour. But vegans be warned! There is beef gelatin in this product! Kudos to the company for full disclosure.
For those who are watching their calories, one slice has over 300 calories!!! Is it worth it?
Yes!!! I usually loathe graham cracker crusts, but this one was quite good so for me, I have zero complaints. I knew that this would be a decadent summer treat and boy, did it ever hit the spot on a hot summer day.
I give this product five out of five wooden spoons. It is the perfect dessert to bring to a BBQ or enjoy at home on a sizzling summer night.

The pie looks great and I’m sure the flavor is too . I wonder why they didn’t use agar instead of gelatin to sell the vegetarians.
Now the challenge is to crate a knockoff. Should be fun with your fave cream cheese recipe, some artificial orange extract or reduced O.J. (maybe some blood orange, for real color) and a few drops of food coloring . Might be a project.

It usually comes down to how much things costs Wayne but I agree, would have been a smart move to use agar. Oh it’s too hot to bake now! Unless I can make something in my pressure cooker… Interesting! Are you going to try making a copycat version?
wayner says
I may do, but I agree it’s too hot now . I would use gelatin myself but I just thought they might have thought of agar as a nod to the vegetarians . I’ll have to leave a note to self to try and do the copycat down the road .

My favourite orange product is creamsicles. It doesn’t taste like creamsicle orange, does it?
Suzie the Foodie says
Yes! I should have put that in the post, it does taste like creamsicles, just a little more tangy but it’s wonderful.
