President’s Choice got me all excited to make their PC Loads Of Spinach & Parmesan Atlantic Salmon Burgers slathered with PC Sriracha Mayo Sandwich Spread for dinner after going out to the movies.
I thought it would make the perfect combo and loved the idea of a salmon burger loaded with spinach and Parm.
It sounded so tasty!
“For a different take on fish burgers, these juicy burgers are made with Atlantic salmon and loaded with the maximum amount of spinach, savoury parmesan cheese and capers possible, for a perfect mix of flavours in every bite. Whether grilled or pan-fried, they’re an impressive new choice in burgers – with or without the bun”
You will find the salmon burgers in the frozen food section. You get 4 burgers per box. Two burgers in two packages, which was perfect for us.
As usual, with any spicy product I was a little nervous about using the PC Sriracha Mayo Sandwich Spread.
“Red-hot and zesty Sriracha chili garlic sauce becomes a creamy, smooth and mellow spread in this exciting new kick to your condiment routine. Spread, top and dip in and on everything from French fries to sushi rolls and burgers to BLTs.”
The Taste Test
I grilled up two of the salmon burgers and served them on everything bagels.
I generously added the spicy mayo spread to the bottom and drizzled on top of the salmon burger.
Sigh… Boring! I found the salmon burger to taste just like a normal salmon burger and I could barely register the heat or flavour of the mayo, which shocked me. Reg is not a fan of salmon and said that it was the best salmon burger he had had but I was hoping for so much more flavour. It was just a salmon burger and the mayo spread just seemed to disappear. I have used it on other sandwiches since and I have to use a lot of it before I really notice it which is a shame.
I used to get their avocado spread all the time and LOVED it and put it on everything but it no longer seems to be available. I would much prefer it to this Sriracha Mayo Sandwich Spread which needs to be used in a large quantity to be appreciated. Definitely too “mellow” for this foodie.
I give both products three out of five wooden spoons and a “meh” rating. Neither lived up the the hype. How can something be red hot AND mellow? Grrrrr…
