What an interesting idea for the holidays… Flavoured syrup! Not just any flavour either. Bacon flavoured.

The syrup is naturally flavoured and I was a little wary of putting it on Reg’s pancakes because he is not a big fan of pork but he gave it a shot.
I just put a thin layer on the pancakes and… he liked it. The funny thing?
I didn’t! I found it very overpowering. Too much like pork perfume for me. I was really surprised. I ended up using mostly regular syrup and having the flavour be more in the background.
That said, I find the idea of cooking with it to bring a sweet porky goodness to a savoury dish intriguing. Just don’t put it on my pancakes.
Innovative, creative and powerful… I give this product four out of five wooden spoons.
I can’t help it. I don’t like smokey-flavoured anything. Regular bacon, yes. Smokey bacon, no.

A lot of their specialty products come out during the holidays and sometimes only for that particular season. That might be the case with this maple syrup Rex.
Be nice to have at the very end a photo of the nutrition label on products like this. As a PointsPlus WW member, I can eat / try anything, I just have to know how to budget it in, first….. but maybe that is just me that wants to include nutritional information in my assessment of products?
