Talk about decadence! President’s Choice has created The Decadent Chocolate Chip Cookie Spread. Damn!
You can see me freak out over in during my mystery box reveal. My excitement was soon replace with anxiety when I saw that coconut was in the list of ingredients.:
Crushed cookies (enriched wheat flour, butter, brown sugar, sugar/glucose-fructose, modified milk ingredients, soy lecithin, baking soda, salt, vanilla extract), sugar, canola oil, palm oil, semi-sweet chocolate (sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, dextrose, soy lecithin), cocoa, modified milk ingredients, coconut (contains sulphites), sunflower lecithin. may contain tree nuts and egg.
OK, it was listed towards the end but coconut is a super strong flavour!
Product Testing
What exactly do you do with a chocolate cookie spread? I did not just want to put it on a piece of bread so instead I made waffles. Even for me, this seemed ridiculously indulgent.
Reg and I ended up sharing one waffle and it was delicious. The spread is extremely creamy with a nice cookie-crunch contrast. It not as super-sweet as I was expecting and the chocolate flavour was not overwhelming.
The spread is very thick and creamy with just enough crunchy bite to it to keep it interesting.
I decided to also test it as icing for their new gluten-free cupcakes that come in a cake mix. Which worked perfectly! Nothing easier than scooping out the spread in a jar and slathering a cupcake with it.
Again, that little bit of crunch with the creaminess of the chocolate worked perfectly for me and no, the coconut was not a super-strong flavour at all. If I really tried to notice it, I could. Instead, I just decided to eat my cupcake in happy oblivion.
Foodie Conclusion
This is not a practical product for me in a lot of ways. I do not tend to slather food with a chocolate spread but if YOU do, this is a product I would recommend. Also, if you love baking but do not tend to enjoy making icing from scratch, BUY THIS! It is very delicious. It enhanced the cupcake, it did not overwhelm it.
The Decadent Chocolate Chip Cookie Spread was way better than I was expecting. It is versatile, delicious and decadent indeed! I give this product four and a half wooden spoons.

Sounds kind of like Biscoff…..when does it come out in stores?

The Decadent spread is made in Belgium, and it seems plausible that it may come from the same production facility as Biscoff spread (Lotus speculoospasta).
Decadent spread seen in a Montreal store yesterday (4 October).

I don’t slather food with chocolate spread. I eat it right out of the jar with a spoon. This sounds good. Sinfully good.
Today was like Christmas! I received the McCafé giveaway swag that I won here on your blog! I love, love, LOVE that tote bag. And My Rare One loves the iApple speaker — it’s perfect for her iPhone. Did you know the darn thing lights up with a multi-coloured light display too? Neat. Thanks again, Suzie, for hosting such a fab giveaway!
Suzie Ridler says
Yay! So glad you got all that awesome swag Debra. The tote is awesome, isn’t it? I can’t figure out how to use the speakers, LOL. I am so tech challenged sometimes! You are most welcome, so happy you won Debra. 🙂

Did you find the spread in the store yet Janet? I just saw it in mine for $3.99 a jar. It’s true, it is like Biscoff which I had never heard of until I got this product.
