Quick post today! Vancouver is being overwhelmed with smoke from the fires and getting a heat wave at the same time. I am in a lot of pain because we have to keep our windows closed so it is hot as hell and I can not sleep.
I saw this Pinterest Pin claiming that you could thinly slice onions with your veggie peeler. You know how I love a challenge! I love red onions but I rarely want big chunks so this was right up my pin-testing alley.
This was a total success! I liked going along the length of the onion to get long thin slices but it might be easier to do as they do, go along the onion width-wise. Regardless, if you have a good veggie peeler this should work. Yay! Love a good success story.
If you still find slivered red onions too strong then run them under cool water to help take off a bit of the edge.
Please note that it is a peeler so there is a chance of getting sprayed in the eyes with super-strong and juicy onions but that has happened to me with knives too.
OK, time to lie down and take some pain killers!

Cool! I was sure that one would fail. Thanks for testing it!

You are welcome Dawn! I am so surprised at how well this technique works but added a note, be careful of spraying onion juice!
