One of the first things I wanted to buy my mom was a blender so I could make her some super healthy smoothies. I picked up an Oster BLSTDG-B 7-Cup Glass Jar 6-Speed Blender.
I bought the Oster blender from Home Hardware and thank goodness I did not read the Amazon reviews They were terrible! I have been using an old Oster in my kitchen for ages and love it. I decided to follow my instincts.
The only problem? Damn, it was bloody heavy! Getting it to my Mom’s? Not so easy.
I must admit, this little hole for adding pieces of fruit and such (as well as potentially relieving the pressure if contents are hot) is pretty useless but it does not matter. I never use it anyway.
This is a very wide-base blender but underneath it is quite easy to unwind. I was pleasantly surprised to discover even my tiny fingers can unwind it without too much hassle.
I love that the buttons are super-easy to keep clean and are very clear. They do actually seem to differ in speeds from one another and so far we have had no problems with making nice and smooth smoothies. Yay!
THE super healthy smoothie I love to make is with lots of frozen berries, one banana, plain yogurt, some V8 V-Fusion Acai Mixed Berry Juice and then sprinkle in some Southbrook Vineyard’s Bioflavia. My mom loved it but said it was more of a dessert than a drink and used a spoon to eat it!
I have only used the blender to make this smoothie and so far it has worked like a charm. The large bottom base really does help mix things up quite perfectly so I do not know what people on Amazon are complaining about.
So far so good as far as I am concerned! At the moment, this product is registering at around four out of five wooden spoons but until I use it for other dishes, do not quote me on that. At the moment? Me and my mom are two happy foodies. That is good enough for me right now.
