Yesterday was so exciting I just had to share right away! The MEGA President’s Choice Holiday Box arrived!!! I just had to do an unboxing video and share what goodies will be coming up on my blog this holiday season. Anyone want to count just how many times I say, “Yay!”??? I lost track. Also, I really do want to know if you want me to do the holiday cookie stack project.
In the box there were two familiar treats but the rest were all brand new to me and they included foodie kitchen gifts as well! President’s Choice, you rock! And looks like you are going to be keeping me busy with a ton of baking this year. Exciting!
Enjoy!
“The directions drove me crazy, especially since my dough was clearly “wrong” but the shortbread was still delicious, I must admit. I still think $2.99 for a box mix is a little ridiculous but I am glad that even the newest bakers will probably come out of their kitchen with a holiday treat they were excited to ‘make themselves.’ As a result, I will be kinder than usual and give this product three and a half out of five wooden spoons.”
“So how did it taste? Boring. Uninteresting. I have never had red velvet cake before and I am pretty sure it is traditionally more interesting that this cake is. I found it dry, uninspired and absolutely forgettable. I give this product one out of five wooden spoons.”

Oh every thing looks great. Enjoy watching you open the box.
Start some baking for the holidays. Doing it a little different this year. I have 3 local families weekly I take them about a dozen goodies of some type.
So far I’ve done short bread cookies, and pumpkin raisin cookies.
Coffee is on

Your video was great! I love Christmas time and was so excited to go into the store the other day to see what stuff PC had out for Christmas. I think you totally should make the cookie tree!!! I want to make one!

Red Velvet cake’s dirty little secret is that it really doesn’t taste like much of anything except a plain cake dyed red. It’s the “look” of it that people find so unique, not its taste. I remember when the only place you could have red velvet cake was at Eaton’s in their fancy-schmancy restaurant. Gawd, I’m old.

Thank you Heidi and Tammy! Tammy, that is exactly what I wanted, to make you feel like you were there with me. 🙂 Awesome!
Thanks Dora. You have started baking already?! You are amazing!
Manda, thank you and yes, it is exciting to see the new products. OK, it’s looking like people are interested in me making the cookie tree!
Debra, yup, that’s how I felt last year. I doubt adding a really good icing it going to make it better but you never know. Oh wow! I remember when Eaton’s had a restaurant. Guess I am old too!

their red velvet cake mix is evil … I am a fan of it and the PC one is HORRIBLE.
Lucky wench … I am living on canned beans and jello at the moment as I am that broke!
Have made the cookie tree in past … it is fun to make.

I LOVE M&M’s nanimo bars … have fun!
Nice to see Reg in the video but you know I have a thing for silver foxes. 🙂

Janet, I felt the same way when I made it last year and am a little worried about making it this year. Oh I am sorry to hear your situation is so tough right now. That’s on my agenda from February-May. I never had M&Ms Nanaimo bars! Reg is definitely one silver fox, LOL. 🙂
